Hey everyone! First post in 2 yrs! So I thought I'd make it a good one!
So I got out for a Moose hunt again this year, packed everything up and headed out for 10 days! Third day of hunting I got lucky, it was colder than a witches T@#! blowing winds and a mixture of rain and snow! I was sitting on a nice little ridge over looking a large beaver pond and swamp.....called but with no success. Fingers and toes getting numb....I figure better take a little walk back around the ridge to warm up(and see if anyone was sneaking in the back door) to my left there was another little swap....between me and it was a creek. I glass the hill side across the little swap....nothing!.....Take a quick eyeball around the swamp......nothing....but a rootwad! Now over the next hour or so I'm walking back and forth this ridge from one swamp to the other to try and stay warm! On my third pass back around I think....."i'll walk through some of that blowdown lower on the ridge, that'll get the blood flowin!" As I get to a little opning above the smaller swamp I take another look......"Jebus that rootwad sure is black looking!".......So i glass the little swamp for the first time (ya'll see where this is going)..........look through the bino's........"YOU S.O.B!!!!........YOU BEEN LAYING THERE THE WHOLE TIME!!.......I find a nice rest.......wait for him to turn his head........line up just below his left ear.........BOOM!.......MISS!......he stands up looking down the creek, I push another in the pipe, high shoulder this time! BOOM!......Right back to bed he goes!! My biggest to date!......Here he is:
