Out in the bush just like every weekend , me and my buddy both being fairly new to big game hunting , both of us have speant what seems like forever after our first bear or deer on a two year dry spell . Got up there Friday night ran into a few deer on the way in , so we were feeling pretty good heading into the weekend . Saturday morning got up at 5am walked 20kms around getting to know the area but kept getting passed by quads patrolling the roads religiously .Met a great guy hunting pointed us to some areas that he thought would be good for someone on foot so we headed off the beaten path into the deep timbers very dense low visibility .He advised ha that the deer in this area don't live on the standard timeline I've been told (get up early first light and last light) he said his favourite time to hunt was 11am to 7pm so we listened to him .less than 20 minutes into the woods it was crazy doe after doe after doe then bam a 4 point , sadly he spooked before I could draw on him never to be seen again .By the end of Saturday we had seen 40 plus doe and 3 bucks that we could draw on being so close in the timber . Sunday he told us to work the same area so we listened , hour into the day (we had slept in till 8:00) me and my friend split up and within minutes I heard a gun shot and went running towards the shot after 20
minutes of whistling to find him I come across him standing over a decent sized 2 point we were both very excited and began our first gut which id say went pretty well .we don't hunt on quads or from trucks so we strung er up to a tree branch hog tied it and hiked it out over an hour to camp. Next day I worked the same area for a full 12 hours saw 30 plus doe but no bucks but I did manage to push a 4 point out of my area right to the fellow who had helped us out so much during the weekend and he had it hanging wen I got back to camp haha my dry spell continues but a great weekend

Wow way to go guys....hey Hartley you were part of the hunt, don't call it a dry spell..besides, most hunters have dry spells of several years or longer..main thing is your out there to have fun and learn, gettin somethin is a bonus!

Other than sleeping in, which is a sin by the way :) , sounds like you were rewarded for your effort. It's great when things pan out. Good on ya...
