Look on the sides of roads and trails. I normally see them standing under low branched trees. Sometimes I just see their silhouette. South Okanagan for me.

Here is a observation and question.

I rarely ever see grouse on the sides of a road when it is sunny but lots when it is cloudy.
Have you had the same experience ?

Try the hills around Chilly Whack up elk mtn and Sumas mtn even closer to you and Chilly whack mtn, prolly pellets only anyways so bang bang
Check valid BC Hunting and Trapping regs for clarity on legal issues first then go.
I would try Sumas Mtn on open spots bordering the edges of hardwood and forest.
Grouse eat leaves berries and insects so know the looks of their home bases.
Willow grouse are ruff grouse, willow grow in moist areas, Blues are at 2500 feet now and going up to migrate, they do the opposite of other grouse. etc.
What's a fool hens real name?
Jeldo -- grouse have to eat gravel to digest there food and they eat clover and grass.
and insects so that's why they like old gravel roads to get them.

Been seeing some really fat blue grouse around Cache Creek area this year. Put one big guy down last weekend with a couple breasts resembling a Lilydale chicken. Get just inside the treeline off the old roads and you should bump some. Get yer shotty ready, coveys of 5 or 6 are not uncommon.

I would look at the grouse leh odds
an area with tough odds probably has good grouse hunting that's why people apply there
