I came across a group of trees 5 in total only about 7 feet apart all with rubs on them I started to look for more and came across a single rub just up the hill from this group. I thought it was either bull moose or a group of whitetail bucks that I had on my game camera in another area. Anyway I put up a game camera to find out and to my surprise this fella came by.

Thats really interesting, 3-12 you say. There use to be a planted heard in 3-13 & 3-14 of rocky mountain elk. I would think it would depend on what part of 3-12 your in, because the SW part of 3-12 isn't that far from say the top end of the Wipsaw creek area the way a crow flies. Maybe he just went for a walk looking for girls. That heard in 3-13,3-14 used to have a general opening for 6 pt. bulls until the local FN band decided it really liked the taste of ELK. Now there's no more ELK. That area produced some really big bulls too. If you are ever going through Lillooet, stop in at the museum ( an old church) and have a look at a big bull that was actually poached by the mayor of Lytton at the time. He opened the season a day early and got caught. Its a really interesting museum, lots of old mounts and pictures.

Wasn't ELK introduced there? If it was introduced there shouldn't all of us follow same hunting rules?

Very interesting good thing I always have an elk tag, now they need to find a bunch more and open it up.

There has been a herd around Westwold for a dozen years or so , causing problems in haystacks , and maybe prompting some 'cultural' harvest. Numbers should be being kept in check if there are enough complaints.

Nice elk, natives did not get all the Lytton herd, i am sure they tried but country is too nasty for their style of hunting. I have seen many up there is last 12 months as well as plenty of tracks. The reason there is no longer a 6 point season in region 3 is 100% political. Same reasons we cant shoot an immy or whitetail doe in region 5.
