This time next week we will be riding the lovely BC Ferries and on our way north for another moose adventure... Picked up the trailer last weekend, built a lockable/dry lid for it to keep everything secure and dry.. Firewood is loaded along with a wack of other gear.. 7mm, 45-70, and .22 are all sighted and ready to roll..

Now just gotta make it thru the work week before we let the fun begin!

We have been watching the weather forecast for our area and its a lot more promising than it was 2 years ago when we were there.. Rain, possible snow, and stormy, half moon, instead of sunshine, 19 degrees, and a full moon like before!

Ya no doubt. Save some fuel in your truck and bring your saw.

Best of luck. When you get your moose, make sure to stop by my woodshed and drop off the extra wood.

Moose will fit in there quartered... or can ride in the back of the truck... If we get one its pretty well gotta be quartered as its just my wife and myself.. We do have 400ft of 5/8" lifeline ropes used for roofing fall pro, bunch of other recovery gear and a come-a-long.. Best bet I think will be gutless method, and quarter and into the truck..

Good luck... I would say bring a snatch block and work out a hoist. They are way heavier than they look.

bring a chainsaw for not only wood but along with a bottle of cooking oil you can use the chain saw to quarter the moose/take the antlers off the head if you get lucky. When your looking to find your spot to camp select a spot with a few Standing Dead trees around .The wood in those will be bone dry and will burn immediately.Dont try to burn any wood laying on the ground no mater how dry looking...unless you like to eat smoke

good luck

Just ran into an older gentleman at our local hunting store. Just got back from Raven Lake area in Chilcotin country. Had his camp raided in the night of generator, chainsaws, tools, etc. 7 camps in area got hit bad he said. He was getting quotes on his hunting stuff that were stolen to show his insurance company. A few bad apples in that area it seems.
So back to 5-14 Raven Lake area??
Recent warning!

Was in 5-03 for a few days last week & saw no moose or fresh signs. Both Eve & I applied for moose but were unsuccessful.
The 45/70 is a wise choice. Properly loaded almost nothing beats it for bear defence. I use it for about 80% of my hunting. The 375 in more open country.
LUCKY YOU & GOOD LUCK!

It sounds like that area is in desperate need of some vigilante justice.

Fletcher/Raven and Palmer are notorius for thefts.Srupp can fill in the blanks for anyone heading in that country.I have hunted there plenty but always stayed at a camp and or a lodge.

Well we are home... and we ended up getting skunked this year again... We ended up only seeing one moose and it was a cow... More info and pics to come later after everything is all cleaned up..
