Elk Hunting Survey

This weekend I spent a lot of time wondering around the bush looking for elk. The temps were perfect with -8 in the mornings and about 14 in the afternoon and eve. Late last week I saw a couple cow elk at about 8:30am with no bull. Saturday morning I heard two bugles at about 9:30am but could not locate the bull. The evenings were very quiet with one sighting of a young bull just after last light.
This got me wondering what time of day others have had success hunting elk.

I've had more luck in the morning overall.

most luck from 5:00pm onward, best luck last 20min of light. Ive had them calling in the am but not committing as much as evening. I am usually up and walking an hour before first light too.

10AM-12PM for me. Hunt them in their bedroom when they are grouchy and tired.
