Who thinks hunting with the moon cycles actually helps?
All that makes sense to me is that with no moon or less moon or even thick cloud cover it would be hard to feed at night so it should push deer to feed more in the day light.

My GPS has a "hunt and fish" screen which tells you bad, good, excellent days. Pretty sure it's based on the lunar cycle. I don't base my trips on it but I have noticed more animal activity throughout the year on days it says will be excellent .

Have been out for BTs last free years on this full moon September weekend.. Haven't seen nearly as much compared to other trips but still wouldn't be a deciding factor for me

Read a study once on deer movement during the moon phases, they couldn't find anything suggesting a full moon lowers deer movement during the day and increases at night etc.
Personally I think weather, temp, and breeding cycle or lack of is what determines animal movement.

I find I see less animals just after a full moon, but the young fella that just dropped the White Tail buck off into my cooler seems to think just the opposite! We didn't see a thing this morning, just so called "Hunters" that seem to think it's just bloody fine to Hunt in "MY MU!!!" The Gall of some people, Eh! We'll see about that around midnight tonight!!!

Read the moon phases especially and how they intertwine with when the estrus ( In Heat ) female starts. Unless your a mule deer hunting specialist and want a certain buck. Fine tuning would be critical but for an average to large buck go with both.
A muley doe goes into estrus the same time each year on average in Kammy area starting from? -- Oct 23rd to Nov 2nd, is when most adult does, get some lovin from their main buck..ohhh baby ------- Pre rut is Oct 9th on up to the Oct 23rd, when the doe stops and waits to be mounted.
The mature doe comes into hot heat and get's her main hunk from Oct 23rd on and stands still instead of teasing and dashing and darting in front of the buck, she finally sah comes and surrenders to his majesty with the muscled body and wild rack of tines. Stands in a provocative stance and says, " Hey Big Boy! " The stud buck says, You finally want to get serious hey?" Does a huge lip curl and snorts.
The big eyed, long eye lashed doe gives em a big sexy slow wink and a smile. Her ovaries swollen and her natural sah weet scent drifting in the fall air, her scent pads smell like honey and she stands there sniffing the strong musk of her chosen mate as he waits twisted and dazed only a few feet away. Red eyes bulging out, nose wet and licking his nostrils, his sleek winter hair shining along his well muscled frame. Ok baby I'm going to give yah what yah want, and up he goes,, POW!
-- Bucks during the pre rut will work trees over with their massive racks and neck muscles.
Pre rut in the s interior is from Oct 9 til Oct the 23rd. Rut Oct 23rd to Nov 2nd and thru November.
jelly give the Moon a reading and keep hunting your going to crack it and connect

Regardless of the source, it is part of the fun of the site.

Something the site needs.

Can't be all bickering and blathering on about s*^t that people will never agree on.

Exactly...though I believe the moon does have some effect on them, just not as much as the other factors...

I'll take a full moon in the rut over an early season sliver every time.
Have noticed bigger the moon bigger the tide on the west coast, not sure how that pertains to this but...

Full moons affect tidal cycles(water). Human body is 55-75% water, most mammals are realitvly the same composition(deer). Ask any 1st responder about how crazy things get on full moons and you can get an idea of the affect on animals during a lunar cycle...

Hunted last weekend during peak of full moon. Activity? Yes. ~25 does & fawn sightings but zero bucks. Still for me a hunting success. Very cool experience to watch them up close and have them walk past you doing their thing. Hunted the same spot the weekend before in very different weather: 2 does was all I saw. I think, weather is more important than moon cycle...

Pre-post and during a storm, first snowfall, movement from predation, breeding, migrating, hunting pressure, all have more affect than the moon in my experience. Humans I'd tend to agree are affected more!

The ocean tides are from the moon cycle power, so a deer might feel it. Humans do.
Some emergency staff my cuz works out with in the gym say full moon brings out the looney's.
For deer the best hunting is when the empty moon (starts to fill and all the way to Full).
So check this years calendar for Oct til Dec 10. For going from empty to full.
The rut is the strongest pull on a mule buck, in full rut the buck is basically twisted in the brain. He's gone insane basically under the testosterone surging thru his well built body into his heads. lol.
Moon cycle can be used for the mule deer crazy buck hunter..but not so needy for the 4 points or non typicals under 170 or so.
Remember deer and cats can see good at night when bright moon light but know each other pretty good to. On a dark cloud covered moon, they will come out earlier and stay out later to eat.

Bad weather will overpower any full moon, as will the rut, etc. After harvesting a few ungulates, over 50 at least, I can honestly think of no correlation between the moon and success. I hunt when I can, never turned down a days hunting cause of the moon. Then again I'm a meat hunter.
My partner buys into it, so I go out alone and shoot shit. Will pay more attention this season.

Only the lucky get lucky, so say some, and luck comes with a chance and you go out no matter what or anyways.
Won't get a buck looking from your house unless you live in Logan Lake area.
So you do all things you know to make it your chance to git lucky, the weather conditions are perfect, four inches of soft fresh snow from the night b4, rut is on full swing Nov and your hiking up into a ridge known by you as good. Can't get better that anyways. Right?
So if the moon is filling at this time, that's even better and the wind is light.
Little cloud no bright sun, and off yah go.

I don't plan around the moon, but I can say that I have noticed reduced morning and evening activity periods during full moons with clear weather.

Last time we hunted elk on a full moon with clear skies, the only elk we heard bugling were at night.

Having said this, I totally agree with Jelvis, you don't tend to bag game sitting in your easy chair at home. So, full moon or not, getting out is the only way to end up pulling the trigger. We humans love to generalize, I.e. full moons are good or bad, but when you are out, anything can happen at any time, whether it is predictable or not.
