I'll be amongst the fray , going for my first buck. If it's got antlers it's going down. Got my spots figured out already

I'll be hoping for my first buck in that area as well! I was up there last weekend looking for a four point with no luck.

Lugar,
You must live in the area if you have your spots all picked out? Good luck to you! Post when you get something!

Went last year for the first time to the area. What a frigging gong show of quads, trucks and people. Couldn't move without bumping into someone. Tunkwa Lake Resort posts a hunting report once in a while with a few deer taken all season. Pretty low ratio considering the amount of people running around.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not new to the area but it's my first time for opening weekend. I have a few spots I would like to check out about about a hour away from 3-18 so I can always change my plans if it gets busy

The area gets insane during October, and the critters adjust accordingly.
I'm more concerned with the guys being jacka$$ around.

Out of interest, an area that is busy like this, I imagine the majority of the crowd sticks pretty close to the roads? How far do you have to hike (generally) to get away from the crowds?

area is crazy but if you hike paralell to the roads a few 100 meters back you will see critters

In spite of all the road hunters there are still a lot of deer.

As 250 mentioned get off the road to see animals. Worth packing a whitetail tag too.

Took a nice 4pt the other day, during october usually hike 3km in to get into some nice deer

I don't mind seeing a few other people. The problem is, that when there's THAT many people, your chance of running into one of those morons that shoots at movement increases.

Where orange go hunting.... I live in kamloops and find that area always productive.
