When i did use a rifle my favorite is the 270 cal. that my son now uses. I found it to be the best all round rifle ever. Now my favorite is a high country bow at 64# shooting carbon force 300's. nothing like it.

My Ruger No.1 RSI international chambered in .270 Win with a Leupold 3-9x40 Rifleman, It's the only rifle I've ever used. I've shot moose and deer with it , the moose take a little coaxing to go down but the deer hit the ground before they know whats hit them.

Remington 700 BDL in 30.06 with 3-9x40 bushnell scopechief and Harris Bipod. Has done the job for deer, elk, sheep, goat, and coyotes. Still waiting to pull on a moose.
Thinking of upgrading to Leopold optics. For smaller game (antelope and coyotes) I also like my wife's Model Seven in .243 with 3-9x40 bushnell optics.

Hey
My present favorite rifle is a Remington Model 700 BDL in 270
B&L elite 3x9x50 with the carefully installed Harris Bipod. age 12years
With no disrepect to my old favorite....Winchester Model 670...243 age 37
My favorite rifle is my BSA Featherweight "Hunter" (Royal) The Hunter model is the very first sporting rifle produced by BSA in the early 1950's and is based on a Mauser clone CRF action with steel bottom metal. It only lasted for a few years before being replaced with the cheaper to produce push-feed Monarch and CF2
Rebarreled with a Bevin King SS barrel in .338-06 she weighs in at 7 1/2 pounds scoped (3-9X40 B&L 3000) with a full magazine! It is a joy to carry all day and the .338-06 has to be the most versatile cartridge one could want for hunting the BC interior.

I shoot a Tikka 7mm mag with a stainless barrel and synthetic stock. I use a Leupold 3x9 scope and Harris bipod. Can't wait to get it out next season.

I am partial to the m700 LSS Mtn Rifles chambered in 260 Remington, but I also like my m700 LSS in 7saum, and have been doing most of my hunting the last two years with it :p
http://www.hunt101.com/img/224170-big.jpg
It usually wears a Burris FullField II 3-9x40mm scope with the Ballistic Plex reticle, but currently is topped with a Bushnell Elite 3200 5-15x40mm scope for winter coyote duty. :D

Stainless 24" barrel, laminated mountain rifle scope, Leupold bases/rings. Weighs 8.5-9 lbs depending on the scope. I shoot 160 gr. Nosler Accubond's for big game, and 100 gr. Hornady hollow points @ 3500 fps for predators.

58# Crusader longbow made by Marc at checkmate.
But if I'm rifle hunting its a real hard coin toss between my browning stainless stalker in 300 win, customised.
Or my Marlin 45-70, I do love the marlin a bit more though.

I've narowed down my guns recently...
#1 Ruger Stainless 7RM, with a Timney trigger and a BC fiberglass stock. Killed a shitload of game with this, using 175gr NP's and 160gr X bulets..I have a 2.5-8X36 Leupold Vari x III on it.
#2 Brno 375 H&H with a Rimrock fiberglass stock, and a Leupold 1.5-5 onit. It used to have a 2.5 Leupold..Knocks the shot out of bears. I like to dump them where they are standing, as they tend to roll down a gulley...I've used this on 2 black bears and a grizz...
#3 The rifel I am eagerly awaiting...A Bill Leeper custom Stainless 300WSM, with a Bansner fiberglass stock, Talley rings/bases and a eupold 2.5-8x36 scope...
#4 A rifle I am just startignt ot play wiht, despite owning it for 6 months...It's a stainless HB 22-250 AI, with a Mcmilon stock, and Leupold rings/bases. I intend to mount a B&L 6-24 on it..The barrel is Gaillard, 1:14 twist, and the action is *gag* Remington...I will load BT's for varmits and X bulets for bears...
Once I get my 300WSM back, I expct that I wil use it 99% of the time, taking the 375 only for grizzlies and the 22-250AI for varmits..
I have a ton of other guns, but I am simplifying my life, and want to hutn with mostly one gun...

Like Gatehouse, I am trimming the herd, somewhat. (at least trying to!) Main rifle for the last 20 years has been a Model 70 w/270 Douglas barrel in a synthetic stock. (kind of a featherweight when they weren't making them) For this coming year I'll be putting in some time with a fwt 30-06 (Gatehouse' favorite caliber!) and a stainless model 70 in 7Mag with an aftermarket stock (bedded it today). I also have a 35 Whelen that may get some hunting time, maybe for black bear this spring. About the only gap I have in the gun cabinet is a lightweight predator rifle. (probably end up with a 6mm or a 257 Roberts)
