Snickers! I bring enough for 1 or 2 a day. They are great in the bush as a temporary reprieve from hunger.

Big trips - daily snack packs pre made consist of Swiss farmer sausage, cheese, trail mix, kitkat chunky, homemade dried fruit. Quantities dependent on hunt type. Day trips usually a combo of above but always having sausage and cheese. Little 2 oz whiskey bottle stays in pack to for thanks to critter for feeding my family.

Used to do the sweets, you know the Halloween crap! Always had a sugar crash and ended up having an unintentional nap or two a day when stopping to glass/rest. Now it's just protein, dried fruit, meat nuts etc.. The only way!

I was able to find all the ingredients @ Save on foods.. I think a couple were in the organic bulk section...

Take how many you think you might eat, freeze the rest...

Salami, dried fruit, and smarties. Make up in advance, and put in a small ziplock. One per day.

My wife makes me power bars. God knows what's in them (tons of good stuff, sunflower seeds, coconut, oats chocolate, honey etc.) but they're filling and WAY cheaper than any commercial version.

Good old wine gums are my favorite. Keep them stashed in the pockets. If you forget them in your jacket at the end of the season, don't worry they will still be delicious next season.

I always have my jetboil and a mountain house in my pack. For quick snacks, cliff bars, beef jerky or pepperoni are always a gooder
