Attention Ptarmigan Hunters: please consider helping conservation science project!

If you hunt white-tailed ptarmigan in BC, you could make a valuable contribution to a scientific investigation. A project is underway, involving a collaboration between scientists in Canada and the US, to understand how distinct different populations of white-tailed ptarmigan are across the species' range - from Alaska down to New Mexico. The information generated will help with management of the species. At present we only have 3 tissue samples from the mainland of British Columbia. Tissue donations (e.g., wing, head) from BC hunters would be very helpful. We would pay for shipping and would be happy to share our findings with hunters that contribute samples if they are interested.
