Hey guys, My name is Kevin. Im 27, 28 in November. I have been hunting since I was a young lad and I have JUST arrived in Kelowna. Only know two people here and my one buddy that hunts, doesn't hunt region 8.

Im an oilfield worker 20 on 10 off. Currently not working but could be going any day now and my hunting gear is back home until the end of next hitch at which point all of my belongings will be shipped out here for November.

Pretty busy with the girlfriend and 7yr old boy evenings and weekends but hoping I can meet a bunch of you in the near future, hopefully get a new hunting partner and be shown around.

Im a rifle hunter. Personally I haven't shot a bow much at all but looking at the regs, I think I may have to get a bow and start practising!

Gear

06 F150 4 dr
06 Honda Fourtrax quad
Sitka Stratus Full Line Forest
Sitka Tool Bucket Pack
Bushnell Rangefinder
Bushnell Binos
USMC ILBE 2 Ruck

Rifles

243 shooting 100gr
3006 shooting 165gr
300 WinMag shooting 180gr
couple 12ga
Couple 22's
couple safe queens
couple pistols for fun at the range.

That being said, I would like to join a range here also since I do have my pistols.

I live a pretty active lifestyle when I am not at work.

Hobbies include

Hunting
Fishing
Crossfit
Hockey
Wakeboarding
Snowboarding

And I do love beer but really, who doesn't

Would like to get to know everyone. Community is always great

Hope to hear from y'all and get to know ya

Welcome, Kevin. I think that this forum will be great way to learn about your new surroundings, at least in the context of hunting, and meet some great folks.

Just curious, though, why does your buddy not hunt region 8?

Best advice I can give ya is to join one of the local fish & game clubs. Lots of like-minded people who share your passion for the outdoors.

He is from Fernie so he goes out there with his buddies

Wow. He's driving through a pile of good country to go hunt back at home! Fernie's great, but it's not necessarily the Shangri-La of hunting!

Oh well, once you start bagging whities, mulies, elk and moose an hour from town, he'll come around!

Your going to love the lack of locked gates! You can actually step foot in the bush here!

Man your going to lover reg 8!! I was born and raised in kelowna hunted it for over 20 years and now moved to the peace reg7b 3 years ago and every hunting season I miss home, I've spent a lot of time hunting 7b now find it good for moose and elk but the deer hunting is terrible compared to reg 8 so far, don't get me wrong, seen lots of big muleys but all on private land, hope to make it home for the whitetail rut in reg 8 it's just to much fun! But i well be going hard for a 7b crown land buck also!!!

Locked gates weren't a problem, pays to know people lol but still nothing worse than a mature 100lb Blacktail.

Been seeing a few doe's around glenmore, they remind me of the oak bay deer, not a care in the world for people or cars.

Welcome to Kelowna, heart of the "broken-ogan".

We're lucky to live in a place people like to vacation in.

Hey there, new to Kelowna as well, moved from Maple Ridge. Looking to hunt small game in the next few month, and eventually bear during spring. I don't have much gear, but if you need some good old elbow grease, let me know. Any advice appreciated, as I do not know the area..

I hear Rock creek is a good area for whitetail. Mind doing some scouting for me?!
