Just returned from my 5th Junior Season Hunt with my Dad. Got a nice Spike buck on opening morning at 6:07 a.m. Gotta thank my Dad for all the prep he does so I can go on these hunts.

What's even better is that he does his own gutting and skinning now.

Nice work. I took my daughter on her first hunting trip this week. She tagged out on day two with a nice tall spiker. Building memories that last a lifetime between parents and kids is priceless. Congrats to you AND your dad.

Thanks for all the kind comments.
My Dad and I had done some scouting the morning before opening day. We saw a lot of three points, two points and one spike buck, which happened to be the same one I shot the next morning. The three pointers and two pointers decided not to show. After I had shot the spike buck in the clear cut, I went and gutted it, by myself, and proceeded to return to camp with it. I then skinned it after cleaning it off. My Dad and I then decided to pack up and bust out of there so that our wall tent could stay dry. Luckily, we got the tent down before it started to rain.

My Dad cut up the deer and we ended up with about 60 lbs of burger, roasts, and stew meat. Every year my deer's antler get smaller and smaller, but the body gets bigger and bigger, which isn't bad at all. Larger antlers sometimes wouldn't be bad either. Oh well, maybe this October hunt then I will score meat and antlers.

I'm not sure who get's more excited when a young Hunter, or Huntress, get's a animal down, the Parents, or in my case, the Grand Parents! And your right, it does have a good sized body on it, and should be incredible eating too! I think I like the "Youth Season" hunting more now than I do the "Rut" hunting! Congrats on a very successful start to this season!!!
