Can a youth who has completed the core course legally bowhunt without an adult ? My son is 16 and shoots his bow regularly , I was just wondering if he can head out without me . Anyone have any experience with something like this . Thanx

If he has a full license, my opinion is yes. If he is hunting on a youth license, my opinion is no. My opinion may be worthless.

He has his full license and tags, But I kinda figured the same that no laws would be broke as long as he wasn't carrying his rifle.

Page 18 refers to youth and initiation hunters. Someone regardless of age who has a hunter number is not a youth hunter, but a resident hunter and get his own license and tags. therefore should be able to hunt solo with a bow

The quoted "youth" from the statement in the regs does not mean "Youth Hunter" wrt licencing, the way I read it. Gotta love the "grey areas".

This is incorrect. If we look past the synopsis, the wildlife act section 11, subsection 5

(5) A person under 18 years of age commits an offence if the person hunts unless the person is accompanied by and under the close personal supervision of a person who(a) is 18 years of age or older,

Regs say that any one under 18, whether or not they have completed a hunter training course, must be supervised by a licensed and properly qualified adult.

Also make sure his bow is shooting the minimum weight. At 16 I'm sure he's plenty strong enough.
