Question. Fiance hunts with a 270 Ruger (Great gun, light weight and not much kick at all) ... he got a bear tag and I was curious if that will be good enough to kill a bear?

I have a Remmington 30-06 and I feel he should be taking my gun ... (heavy, heavy kick, accurate gun) in my opinion. I know it will take down most big game in BC.

We went out for a rabbit hunt last night started talking about our bear hunt and I asked this question and he wasn't sure. First time bear hunting for both of us. What is a good gun to use?

either or would be fine for b bear! Use a good bullet (Nosler accubond, partition, or barnes ttsx/tsx) and you will be totally fine!

Hmmm 40 years chasing black bears..mostly with .270 in the earlier half..20 years..used premium bullets..today lots of choices..150 grain would be my first thought..I do like Barnes tsx but Acuubond..etc..dont like partition for bear particularly.
Point being many many bears have been safetly harvested humanely with .270 caliber..
Clayton Mack always said beware of the man with just 1 gun...he probably knows how yo use it.
Cheers
Good luvk hunting

I use a 270 as well. 130 gr Nosler Ballistic tip pills. Bang flop. Mainly neck shots. Know your gun.
