squamish main gate??

back road map books shows a gate on the squamish main FSR a click or two past the bridge to go up the elaho. Anyone know if this is a locked gate? if it isn't how far can you drive up the road? is the bridge still intact that crosses to the other side of the river?

The road is closed at the bridge that crosses the Squamish near shop 3( 27 Km on the Squamish main) due to the fire that burned a lot of the Elaho, Sims and Clendenning valleys. Check the BCwildfire site, been happening since June 14th.

RB2, yeah i am up to speed on the forest fire closures, i am thinking later this fall in october/november, should have clarified. Do you know the status of the gate farther up the squamish main after the elaho bridge?

Not sure at this point. A lot of snags up there, Wondering if they close it for safety. Hope not.

The bridge is drivable and the gate is normally open.
With that said... The fire up there was extensive, it's possible that the gate was closed for safety reasons.
There's plenty of other area up the Squamish and Ashlu valleys though.
