depends on the temperature, and where you keep it while travelling.
I got about 2 days out of my Magellan, in Sept, with fairly warm conditions.
In late Nov, in freezing temps, about 3/4 of a day.
That being said, this is with the unit running all day, never shut off.
Keep spare batteries in your front pant pockets when its cold out.

Also, I kept the Magellan out in the open, hanging off my badlands bino pack, so the unit stays really exposed to the temps.
(which doesn't help the batteries in Nov).
I found that duracells left in any electronic device for a long period of time and not being used were susceptible to acid leakage.
Maybe energizers are better in that regard??

I replaced my Magellan this past Christmas, with the GPSMAP 62 as well.
It will be interesting to see how it performs, accuracy and battery wise.
That Magellan was spot on!! accurate!, with no wandering in the display while standing still.
The Garmin on 1st observation, isn't as accurate. ( it does circles, even while standing still??)
Reason for the new gps, was the Magellan battery housing screw is all buggered now, after 12 years.
But, lets see how the Garmin matches up to the Magellan in battery performance.
I will post results for anyone interested at the end of the season.
