So in 23 years of shooting bows, I got my first... It looks like it hurts... But my pride is way more injured. While at the 3d shoot at Ridgedale, on target 27 or so, I was BSing with my brother, his friend, my nephew and Mike Boehm... We were all laughing and joking as it was my turn and I somehow forgot to nock an arrow... Well after the sound of a gunshot, there was dead silence... This is wat it looks like when a 350 fps IBO bow lets go and the end loop of the string whips your bow hand at god knows what fps...

It looks like my bow survived... Minus the strings and cables... Alright thanks to the build quality and string stops of the Bear Motive 6. I finished the rest of the course sharing my brothers bow. Then we drove to Semiahmoo and shot a round of hunter scoring where I used one of my recurves. I blame Mike Boehm for distracting me... There's no way this could have been my fault lol. I am super lucky that all I got was a little string kiss on the hand and didn't take the string in the face... My hand is pretty swollen and bruised but it could have been a lot worse. I need to order new strings and cables and see if I did any other damage. The cams and axles seem totally fine as does the riser and limbs. Never thought it would happen to me.

if the string and cables let go you can bet for sure that your axels are tweaked ... if your Cams survived they might be a tad tweaked ... and I will almost garantee your limbs have an internal fracture

The cables did not let go, but they are a bit frayed. I still need to get the bow on a press and check the axles but I checked it over last night and the cams are both fine by puting a straight edge on both sides. I have my fingers crossed that the only damage I did was the string and cables. The peep went bye bye which is where the string broke. I don't know what direction it went but I bet it broke the sound barrier.

Make sure you check limbs and cams carefully. My Matrix blew when I left a friend pull it back ...my fault, totally, people should not be let to pull 80#ers before proving they can do 100 push ups.

Jokes aside, blew the strings, bent the cams like there's no tomorrow

Update... 4 days later and it is healing nicely. Going to be a nice reminder. Think I will ever do that again?

Pic 4 days later and the culprit.

ouch, you are the 5th person this year, that I know of, that has forget to put an arrow in the rest. Fortunately no one else was hurt, and only damage was busted strings or derailing.

The pride is the biggest injury... I bet the other 4 hurt just as much as me lol. The hand didn't hurt much at all... Just if I touched it because it was a pretty good bruise... Like right to the bone. I didn't even feel it when it happened. Just had seen it after.

I am sure you don't feel quite as forgetful as the archer who walked out in front of a target and caught a target point in the stomach. (Walking the walk around course backwards) Happened here in Victoria in the early 80's. Anyone here remember that incident. It ended up fine but it looked terrible with an arrow sticking out of his gut.
