Noticed in a Crappy Tire flyer this morning that they are now selling the Baja 400 4x4 ATV. Does anyone know where these are manufactured or where specifications can be found? They're selling for $5500.

Four-stroke 387 cc 27.2 hp engine with easy electric start
Variable ratio CVT provides the right amount of power without shifting; no chain shift drive
Automatic clutch transmission
Push-button front-wheel drive
Dual A-arm front suspension keeps the front tires at correct orientation at all times
Rear mono shock suspension for great riding comfort
Large off-road tires increase ground clearance
Extra-wide rear tires provide superb traction
Hand-activated hydraulic disc brakes; Foot-activated rear drum brake

What kind of warranty do you get on one of those rigs? :)

off their website,

Canadian Tire Warranty:

All Baja Motorsports ATVs have a 90-day warranty against defects in workmanship and materials (including engine, frame and parts) when accompanied by proof of purchase. The warranty does not cover malfunction due to abuse, misuse, accidental damage or normal wear and tear.

How does that compare to Yamaha, Honda, Polaris etc warranty?

They are JUNK , and no repitable dealer will work on them when they break down.

I suspect that a 90 day warranty VS a year warranty and a good LOCAL dealer behind you is tell tale enough that you don't want one BUT .. to each their own ... My concern for sure would be where to get it serviced and availability of parts, things you don't have to worry about with Polaris, Kawasaki, Honda, etc.

So far they have proven to be complete junk. There have been posts on here and HS that talk about the engines burning out within days.

Yes, you get what you pay for.

Exactly why you need to know who they're made by, where you can have them serviced etc... Others have posted in the past they compatible to other manufacturers ATV products (Honda, Yamaha?) Is this true?, I have never heard of Baja, don't even know if there is a website where product specifications can be located.

It sparked my interest due to the 400cc size and the fact it was a 4x4 model but more information is definately required to make a reasonable assessment.

I think Costco also sells Baja ATV's as well.

I paid 6200 for a brand new Yamaha Bruin 350 2 years ago, with a winch. WHY IN THE HECK would you pay that much for such a piece of junk, when the real deal is only a LITTLE bit more expensive?

I could see MAYBE if they were like $2000, but for $5500, don't even think about it.

I was talking with a mechanic from a shop who works on these bikes and the biggest problem with engine stuff is that the are not set up when they land here in Canada. The valves are not set etc,,,the heads blow. That is his main repair and he works on the ones from co$tco, crappt tire, etc

My 200cc unit I bought a few months back from this mechanic guy is running great,,so far so good

Second that. Save your money and buy something that will have a beter warrenty and a beter product (not favoring any brand/company).
