There are two things that are always in my pack that when I hunt with someone new they look at me funny and say why? They are also two things that I don't leave home without!
1) is crazy glue I have used it for multiple bush repairs from gear to quads etc but most importantly you can stitch together incredibly big cuts saving a trip to the hospital wrecking your hunt I also like to steri strip afterwards. ( I prefer the little mini tubes then they are sterile and single use and you don't waste an entire tube)
2) female pads they too are an emergency supply not just for the female in your camp. They are designed to absorb they are incredible at stopping bad bleeds and come in sterile packaging they can also be used for sweat rash if in your under arms peel the backing and stick them to the armpits of you base layer they wick away all the moisture away letting the rash heal. Third thing is they work great for using scent, elk fire or moose in heat etc you can stick then to yourself or a tree then your gear isn't rank for the entire trip.

Can't wait to see the responses to this!

Not while backpacking but any other time I carry a staple gun, box of staples, and a box of ear plugs. Many people thought it was weird until they ended up needing it to re sight in their rifle.

I always pack a electronic deer alert and stick it on my buddy's Rhino when he's not looking.. And I also take tie wraps and lockout tags and tag out his dang machine .... Everywhere ..once we split up I hook around and accomplish this .. Then return usually later than him to witness the action : )

I have a tube of Nestle Coffee in my pack that expired in 2007 that I brought back with me from my time in New Zealand. It comes in a toothpaste tube and has the consistency of toothpaste but tastes like coffee with milk and sugar added. It was actually pretty good! I dared one of my hunting buddies to try it last year and he didn't fall over! He actually said it still tasted good..... And it is still in my pack. The things you eat in camp!!

Cheers All

Nothing I consider unusual, a roll of paper towel to wipe up blood and clean knives, and a package of sap soaked tree root for starting fires.

Actually, for the longest time I had some teeth rattling around in the storage compartment of my ATV, I had found an interesting looking jawbone with teeth once and put it in the compartment and forgot about it. The teeth rattled loose, I threw the jawbone away but left the teeth in there.

A little invention of mine. I have a driveway monitor. Had a friend install a head phone jack in it. I put the sensor down the game trail (good up to 400ft) and i put the ear piece in my ear back at my blind or stand. If an animal walks in front of the sensor as it's on its way up the trail towards me, i get a chime in my ear piece alerting me and allowing me some extra time to get ready before the animal shows itself. Batteries last a long time.

A heavy needle and 20 feet of 50lb spider wire fishing line. Really comes in handy if you need to repair a busted strap on your pack frame, just need pliers from the leatherman to push the needle through. Also a couple tampons for scent wicks and a few zip lock bags for harvesting some stinky pee dirt.

Disposable nicotine-free e-cigarette. Perfect for testing the wind.

Pack of "finger condoms" or whatever... great for keeping debris out of the barrel.

Not one lighter, but at least 5 (3 disposable and 2 butane, with a small can of butane) ... not sure why so many, but maybe one day it will all make sense.

I get some of that super reflective tape from Princess Auto and punch out little circles from it. I attach the circles to thumb tacks. I carry a pill bottle full of these. I use them to stick into trees when walking a trail where I may not backtrack till after dark. With a headlamp those pins shine like diamonds up to a hundred yards away.

Brilliant... patent that thing.

I carry a few tampons. Either to soak with scent and hang them in trees... or push into a bullet hole should I get winged...

I am from NZ and we used to carry that all the time. It is great, we have made our own also by mixing instant coffee and condensed milk.

A roll of vet wrap. Works good to hold gauze to a wound(used it on many horses)you can use it to wrap a bad ankle for support or to hold on a splint

I have some of that clear tape they use to secure iv needles/lines, for blisters or closing cuts.
Also a powerful green laser pen, to use for emergency signal. It progets the beam for who knows how far and is even more noticeable in fog/cloud. I can see it hit mountains 3-4 kilometers away and shine it at trucks about 7km away and could see it reflect off the license plates. It's a flare that lasts for hours and hours.

Nothing too strange, maybe slightly heavy but I'm not willing to sacrifice weight for quality just yet on sheep and goat hunts . . . 3 grapefruits, pepper salami, cheese, ryebread, sunrype fruit bars, chocolate bars and whiskey (to cleanse the palate once a tag is cut). If you drop 10-15 lbs off of the midsection you can afford to treat yourself. Don't forget the Montreal Steak Spice for the fresh meat.
