Hunted small game as a kid, went along on big game hunts as I got older and eventually went out on my own after getting my licence. Must be getting close to 20 years or more now but have only really been serious about it for the last two.

The first time I saw a deer shot was at the age of seven in 1960, and went along with my Dad most of the times he went out every season after that until I left home.

Got my first rifle in 1967 and started carrying it and hunting in the fall of 1968 and shot my first deer in 1970. There have been years when I didn't hunt (travelling abroad, etc.) but I've hunted most years since then so that makes it 39 years.

Somehow I'm still more enthusiastic than skilled and successful at it, and I've got a constant itch to try new places, so I don't often go back to the same spot.

Very nice to see young ones coming up. Gawd I just hate to see 20ish year olds sleeping all day and then watching videos all night. Yes, I've spoken to some I know of but they just won't listen. Good health to all the others who've discovered the great outdoors!

As soon as I would old enough to hold my own, I was out with my father as much as possible. Usually moose and duck hunting. Shot my first moose in the mid eighties. Why do polls like this suddenly make me feel old? Hopefully there is still alot of hunts left in me.

Did a little hunting when I was a teen, I killed my first deer with a longbow when I was 15, but stopped and didn't start again until much later, when I was abut 27, so I'd say about 12-13 years.

Been shooting alot longer than I have been hunting.

Been hunting supervised since about 12 I guess, and I'm 36 now so that's a 24 for sure. I was a big kid too, and used to walk across the highway with mom's disassembled 20ga. single in my pants, walkin like I was comin' out of a peeler bar! One time though, I was lookin for rabits in the alders when some other kids on the railbed were shooting at something with a semi-auto .22. The bullets were careening off the alders, and I cried-out and hit the dirt. Then I yelled for them to stop and fired-off the 20-gage! I guess they thought they had hit me and ran like hell, 'cause I guess they had snuck-out a gun too.

I went out with my cousin at age 10 and got my own 22 at 12. We hunted rabbits and then grouse when I got a shotgun. I borrowed a 303 caliber and shot a moose first time out. That was age 20. I've gone deer moose or elk every year since. Took up the longbow now and never had so much fun. I guess it makes it 45 years for big game for me.

Most all my life - I am 48. As a child 'road' hunting with my Dad. First gun was a 'hand-me-down' BB gun from brothers before me. Then a pellet gun - having fun with rats at the dump! Then my single shot 12 gauge Cooey and on from that. Couldn't hunt on Sunday's. Got to miss a few Monday's from school in order to pack out the moose or caribou (grew up in central Newfoundland) that Dad shot on Saturday - that was the only time I was allowed to miss school! Now, I enjoy each and every fall - moose and deer mainly. Plus, I enjoy reading stories and seeing pics of the success of others.

Started snaring snowshoe hares and coyote hunting with an old Savage bolt .22 in grade 8 near South Cooking Lake Alta. Dad said there were only 2 rules;check the traps everyday and do something with the skins. There were some horrible pelts on my wall (till the fur fell out) but I was proud nonetheless.
I was never bored and hanging out at 7/11.

Well for me this is my 10th year hunting OMG time fly's.

For me I got a late start from most of you guys as growing up in a House where Pops isnt really a hunter more a fisherman.

A large part of me getting into hunting was getting was listening to my uncle talk about his hunts he went on. Not much to talk about when sitting on a Comm Boat waiting for a Salmon opening.. One thing I never got to do was get a chance to hunt with my other uncle...........
As the two of them where like Larry and Curly.

My first big game animal came in Nov 01 which was a Timber Wolf then two days later my first deer a Flat top. To top it off my hunting parteners told my old man and I ah no 4points around in our area the day after they left I got my 4x5 my first buck. Needless to say the Taxi man was happy with me three animals:|

Ever since then I have been hooked, now if I can get me a Moose with my Uncle. That would top it off, as i was there for when my dad bagged a deer8) Not sure how I ended up doing all the work......

I wouldn't give hunting up for anything, that and fishing are my true loves.

I got started in the late fifties. My Dad used to go to the R.C.M.P. station and he would have to list all the guns I would be using on the trip. Our tags were little stips of tin with some numbers on them and you would cut a hole in the deer's ear, push the strip through, and fold it over They were 50 cents and you could buy as many as you wanted,[ buck or does didn't matter] We used to go out past the Old Duck Inn or something like that on the old highway on our way to Savona to hunt , long before the freeway was built I used a 44-40 Remington 13 1/2 pump for many years and was beside my self when one Chrismas I got a .303 from the Army and Navy on Columbia in New West. Stiil have 'em both.[and a bunch more], So I guess I've been doing this for 48 years and can't wait to do it again.

Shot my first chicken when I was 7. I remember my older brother had missed it numerous times so my ol' man let me have a try. How I hit it I don't know. I took my CORE when I was 10. I'm 36 now. So its been 26 years of hunting with my own tags. Makes me feel old now that I think about it. My son is 10 and just passed his CORE. Hunting seasons are only going to get better from here on out.

I took my hunting course from Jack Cooey in 1978 when I was 14 years old, back when it cost $2.00. Best $2.00 I ever spent.

I started out hunting with my dad and his brothers, mostly riding around gettin stuck. Helped gut my first moose with my uncle (whos passed into the happy hunting grounds now) back in 1993. killed lots of chickens as a kid with the pellet gun and the atv. Shot and field dressed my first moose solo in 1995 in the dark of course. Havent stopped since. I have introduced lots of guys to the activity. Now my son is 9 and he loves the woods, but like me at that age he likes getting muddy more than being quiet, and stalking game. I love to be in the woods baggin a critter or not its the woods I love.

Yup like many of you I've been shooting ditch chickens etc since I was a little one but "hunting" for me started 15 years ago when I made a commitment to pursue trophy class blacktails and mule deer. I've only been in the hound game for the past 3 years and luckily my youngest dog is making hunting very enjoyable. My daughters 8 and my son is turning 5 so the future looks bright as well.

Less than 5

Wanted to start earlier but career and kids came first. But now I can take my boys along.

Love every minute of it. I hunt every bloody week if possible. I don't care if its only squirrels or rabbits. I just enjoy getting out and being in the outdoors.

Have been putting thousands of kilometers on my vehicle checking out forestry roads.

What can I say, I love it. I'd quit work to do it full time but of course thats not very possible.
