My brother and I are taking my dog on a backpack stone sheep hunt off the highway this year. We have been to the spot twice before so we know the terrain. I was wondering if any of you get little booties for the dogs paws for being up in the shale? My dog is very fit, and gets lots of exercise on many different surfaces. Would love to see some pics of dogs in the mountains! And if you have any advice/experience/tips, we would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance

Get some booties. It could save you lots of grief. No fun having to carry your dog out of the bush.

I'd definitely try some booties, my huskies' feet were in rough shape after our trip! The saddlebags I got for her from local pet store were also junk, worth researching a quality product. She packed 'Origin' freeze dried dog food, seemed to enjoy it. Here's my experience with a pup stones' huntin.

Nellie is fairly hardheaded and half wild so a shock collar helped out, although your pup may be well behaved...
