View Full Version : EpicZERO's Trail Camera Thread

I decided instead of making new threads each time I finish a trail camera video instead of making a new thread each time it would be a lot easier and cleaner to keep them all on one thread.

Looks good... Little tip try to set your camera north and south if you can to prevent faulty sun shots or shadow shots which will make clear pics

Thanks! With these two spots it was kind of hard to have the cameras facing any other direction. On the 2nd camera shown in the last video it is on one of the only trees in the clearing, but thanks for the tip! 2 of the camera's are in different spots where they shouldn't get any sun glare in them.

is that Queensr˙che in the first vid?

epicZERO74

No the song is Knights of Taragon by Freedom Call

it reminded me of queensryche for some reason..good high energy tune though

this is still one of my all time fav hard rock albums

epicZERO74

They do share some similarities in sound. Queensryche was a big influence over power metal(the genre that Freedom Call plays)

Thanks! A very short one will be out sunday or late saturday(if there is anything), as we are moving one trail cam in a new spot we found. The camera was on a really random game trail for only 2 weeks, so not expecting much. It will be the only cam we check.

Just got back! It was a good day. Got 2 rabbits, one being my first ever, and the trail camera had more than I expected for only being up 2 weeks in a random spot. Here is the vid:

looks like your cam is running a bit slow turning on from sleep mode. You might want to check to see if there is some updated firmware to fix the issue. If it is the newer generation (which imo suck as I just threw one out before it even made it out) then there is some updated firmware to make the camera faster.

Do you know how to check for updates? I assume I would plug it in with a USB, then do I go to the manufactures' site?

1000 views on the July 2014 vid. It's kinda weird thinking that so many people watched it, but cool! 1 more week 'till my next scouting trip. (this Saturday or Sunday)

epicZERO74
08-15-2015, 04:03 PM
Well, just came back from the trip. Sadly, one of our cams(which had fresh elk sign around it) was stolen. Also, one of the cams was too high, making a lot of the footage unusable :( Still, here's a short video of what we did get:

The next scouting trip will probably be youth deer season. Don't know if I'll be getting out until then.

lol the bear in the end. I ate a bag of peanuts on way to set up my cam, left and came back 3 weeks later and my cam was gone. WTF? some stole my cam... did a bit more investigating and found it ripped off the tree about 4 ft away. Watched the video and same thing, he licked the cam and pawed it off the tree and licked it some more. i wear gloves now for no scent.

also, go on the brands website.
usually they have listings of any updates that are available and for which models.

haha.
eating peanuts on the way to the cam.
that was something i thought of right away.
i try to avoid eating on the way out to checking them, but i make sure to use hand wipes before leaving the truck.

ive decided to not use any attractants.
i really wanted to, to get the best footage, and to pull the gamecto the spot.
but decided i dont want to create a spot for others to find them.
i didnt even set up on the main trail or best area, but set up my cam for the greatest chance of it not being found and stolen.
still getting game, but just not on the best spot.

Haha yea, the straps have been chewed on pretty much all of our cams by bears and elk even. We looked around the area a little bit to see if it was a bear but could not find the cam unfortunately. Also, recently I went through some old trail cam footage (late spring/early summer of 2014) and found TONS of cool elk footage that never made a video, so I will be making a video on it shortly.

The moose before that vid had flies all over it. It brushed against a branch by the cam and all the flies came off.

The one that needs to come down a few feet is no longer with us(it was the one that was stolen), and ya...we always forget to check which direction our cams are facing xD

So archery opens sept 1? Any buck, any bull? Or just 6 pt bulls? Looks like there are certainly animals in that area, you should have a good go at it. Good luck

In region 8 it's archery/youth season for bucks, whitetail and muley starting sept 1st..the elk season is bow only 6 point Bulls sept 1-9, then rifle 6 point Bulls sept 10-October 20

Just came back from a day and a half trip to the Okanagan for a youth deer trip. Saw a few does and got lots of grouse but no deer, still was an awesome trip. Lots of hunters, and this is all we saw on the trail camera
