Bag limits ans Supervision for Youth and initiation Hunting licences:
Hunters under the age of 18, and hunters hunting under the authority of an Initiation Hunting Licence, must be accompanied and closely supervised while hunting by a person who meets the prescribed following qualifications:
4Have held a hunting licence (or be exempted from holding a licence), other than an Initiation Hunting Licence, in British Columbia, or a licence to hunt in another jurisdiction, in not fewer than 3 of any of the licence years preceding the current licence year. This qualification does not apply to the supervising hunter if a guide outfitter also accompanies the holder of an Initiation Hunting Licence.
Hope this Helps!

No need for a 3 year wait. Go get your own PAL (minors license) and go take the CORE course. Then you'll have your own hunter number and hunting license.
A youth who is a B.C. resident and has completed CORE may purchase an adult hunting licence; however, a Hunter Number Card (http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/fw/wildlife/hunting/resident/hunter_numbers.html) is first required.

You could be out hunting this fall if you really bust a move on these two items and find room in the courses. If not this year then next year for sure.
