I'm just curious. Why put in for a area you have never hunted .

How else is he going to hunt it if he doesn't get a draw? It's the only way to go, I put in for a new area I've never hunted almost every year. I'm starting to think that people who harass others that put in for areas they've never been and get the draw are jealous. It's a free world man, I can put in for any draw I want to regardless if I've been there or not.

Any buck season with a moose draw in a decent area.

Not a ton of moose, but you should be able to find a bull. You just can't afford to be to picky.

That's on the south side of the river. Rev that GMC up and giver, she'll float across! And we want pics! ;)

Not a super high moose population in that MU, but you'll be the only tag holder there. My advice is burn the fuel until you find where they are. Cover as much ground as you can until you find where they are rutting/crossing in the spruce draws. Expect they will be at the higher elevations and cooler north faces if October is warm, which is likely given this year's weather.

I would be quite happy using a 7 mag with mono's. you would be lucky to recover the bullet.

Better LOAD up that 338 WMag with some 250 gr-ers Just in case you run into a HUGE Bullwinkle ! that puny 7MM Rem Mag might NOT be enough Gun ;-) RJ

Haven't seen many moosieses up there.
Did spot a few bulls years ago in the Placer Lake area, and south east of Jameson Lake (but that was over 10 years ago).
Pretty thin for moose around there I've heard, but lots of deer in that MU.

There are a few moose in there. I drew it two years ago and tagged out the first day we went in. But it took me 5 years to learn the area and the animals in there.

Dropped with a ttsx 7 mm 140 grn.

Just put the time and miles in, and you'll find them.

Let me come clean I put in for that area cuz last year when I was there I saw eight bull moose. I've been hunting there for 15 plus years I know the area well honestly I just wanted to see how many members would try and help me and how many would post negativity. This was the first year I apply for that draw though and I got it

Thanks all members who offered to help me

Karma is a bitch and because of your trick your gonna be the october fool...kidding aside you should do well. If not a mule buck in the trip. My suggestion from my pics i showed you. Take that first right road from camp and head up upper sweet spot and focus those top blocks on the edges. But if i were you, that right road we went on with the old fart focus that pond and walk that trail i took you on that goes to my ground blind i made where i showed you all those elk rubs. Just dont shoot my elk. And please put money in my can i left in my ground blind. Good luck. See you on the trail

You will be fine in 8-4. Last year I had a massive bull who seemed to be following me around.... Everywhere I went he was crossing my path...

get away from the people and bring a sharp knife

What's funny is people reading the first post and then throwing in their two cents without reading the thread to find out you are set and more knowledgeable than anyone in the area.
