I was lucky enough to draw one of the sheep tags for this area. I am wondering if anybody has any info they would want to pm me on helping to find these rams. I am an avid sheep hunter and live in Creston and know that this draw is not easy. I've been putting in for this draw since it started and can't wait to get out there. Im leaving September 12th for a 2 week caribou trip and gone thanksgiving weekend so I'm a little tight on time.

Lucky, very lucky. I've been applying for a few years as well and those are some slim odds. Good luck to you on the hunt side of things it will sure help that you live in the vicinity. Day trips and weekends will work from Creston. Wish I had some help for you but like most from that region I've seen the sheep on the highway. I've hiked and snowshoed up on the summit but have yet to see the sheep away from Highway 3, if so much of it wasn't closed on the east side(Windy Ridge, Wulf, etc) I'd be spending a lot more time up there hunting. So much of it on our side is a no shooting zone in the caribou recovery strategy. Have fun with your hunt and hopefully you haven't used up all your luck in actually being drawn.

Can't wait to hunt this tag with ya buddy!!

That country sure looks like interesting country to chase rams in. I hope you kill a big old ram!

Seen a pic of a nice one taken out two years ago I think it was. Tough country but rewarding!!

I would personally reconsider the hunt priority of GOS Caribou over Salmo sheep draw. More time looking for a ram would be my choice (you may be locked into the other hunt and don`t want to bail on buddies, which is a good trait). I have not hunted the zone, but understand lots of time may be required from some that have.

Good luck.

I didn't want to preach, but I totally agree with blackbart. You can always go caribou hunting but this is an incredible draw and it may take the whole season to find the right one. Your buddies will understand. Find good glassing points and put in long hours till you see one. they move back and forth across the border so watch there. You'll need good glass and Good luck. Good luck

Unfortunately I don't have any info on the hunt, but have the same thoughts as the guys above.

If it were me, I'd be postponing the caribou hunt until next year. I'm sure your partners will understand.

GOS hunt vs 100:1 + odds leh? You'll never pull that draw again! I'd be dedicating every possible day I had for it.

Yup, bail on the 'bou and live on the Salmo.

Saw a 180+ ram there one year following a band of ewes across the highway. Ended up with a bruise on my chin when my jaw dropped to the ground.

^^^ Wicked mount there Ken!
