I'm looking for recommendations for a scope mounting setup for my new gun. I have a Sako Finnlight paired with a Leupold VX-III 3.5-10x50. Do I need to go with a tall ring with the 50mm objective or will a medium do? I've heard good things about the Talley's but am wondering what others might suggest. Thanks for the help.

Some will say the Optilok (Sako Factory rings) are the best... but given the "Finnlight" theme I'd go with the Talley one piece Lightweights.
Dam tough to beat them, for cost, looks and performance 8-)
I should add though Talley does not list them for Sako's though....might need to check into that ?
They do claim the "Mediums" will take a 50mm objective on a standard sporter barrel though BTW.

Why the 50mm though ??? :-|

The 50mm was at a price I couldn't pass up. A little heavier than I was hoping but still light enough to pack around the mountains. It'll be nice for a low light shot at a sheep too.

Im pretty sure Talley doesnt make rings for a Sako, at least not the Ultralight style

I looked at the Talley website and it doesn't show that they have a lightweight model for a Sako. Any other opinions out there? How are the Leupold mounts?

Leupolds are pretty good, and cheaper than OptiLoks ($80 for leupold sako mounts)

That is what I use.
