I had that draw 7 years ago. We camped at moffat lakes. We were unsuccessful because we were new and dumb. We did see 3 bulls on the first morning but like I said we were fumbling idiots. I shot and missed because i was not taking my time. Few other silly things led to us being skunked. It was a november draw. We did not see many deer but did see bears. I am not sure of the current condition of rec site on moffatt lakes but when we were there it was great. Tables, shit house and flat ground. Cheers Nate

What dates are your draw?

We hunted 14 days last year VERY hard. (Sept. 15-30). I put over 900km on the truck and well over 100km on the boots. I didn't see a single moose nor did I see a single bit of fresh sign. We hunted first and last light every day...weather didn't help as it was pretty warm during the day. We scoured the entire MU pretty well. I have a cabin in that area and spend a ton of time all over the zone every year. We did see a massive amount of wolf sign though. Every single trail we walked there was fresh wolf prints/scat, without exception.

Towards the end of our trip we ran into another set of hunters who had a camp set up. They have been coming to 502b every year for moose for the past 15 years...hunting with a native friend, and this was the first year they were skunked. They also didn't see a single moose.

Very frightening to hear that. I wish you the best of luck and please feel free to PM me with any questions.

We got a group hunt there as well. I am concerned it might be too warm. Had a hunt there a number of years ago and got a moose on the last day of the hunt. We had to work at it hard, 16 hours a day every day out. It is a nice area.

got our moose there 2 years ago. our draw was the Nov draw and as others have said, its a tough hunt that time of year. There's bulls in there but finding them is another challenge.

We had that draw in Oct 2012 and were skunked. Was fairly warm and only saw cows. Saw some deer and bears and lots of wolf sign.

Have hunted that MU for 30 years.Last year there were 3 groups road hunting the area for a week and no moose taken i could have killed 2 nice bulls (no tag). They are there get out of the truck and off the main roads.Good luck.

When do you plan on heading into the bush for your hunt?
