Hey buddy....

You gotta get a hunting licence (CORE course) and then you can get a $20 tag for a Black Bear attached to it.

Then go fil yer boots with a black bear.:smile:

Grizzlies you'll have to wait for. Thats an LEH or limited entry hunt and its a lottery system. You get to pick 2 regions that they allow and try your luck with them. It may take a while so be patient.

In the mean time, Black Bears are a challenge and you can have alot of fun going after them; quietly stalking, then closing in for the shot.

B.C. is Black Bear heaven so you'll find them everywhere- especially on the Island.

Good luck, read lots and learn lots and someday you'll get your Grizzly8-)

Listen if you have just finished your course go play at the range with what ever rifle you have to shoot, then take your 22 when grouse opens see if you can take ahead shot or two,if and when I say if, you can accomplish this then move up to deer , I have worked and played around with the big bear all my life, personally I wouldn't shoot one because I wouldn't eat it, as well I have seen how powerfull they are, and it sounds that you are not an experianced enough hunter to think about taking one down

If its your first bear maybe you should try with a bow, try to get as close as you can, 3-5 yards at max distance. Poke him with the arrow to allow for the fair chase principle.

Heck, in a few weeks I'm going to try to fill my Grizz tag in region 7. I'm taking 2 of my boys. One with the 12 guage,(slugs) and one with a borrowed 308.

Who knows if I'll ever be successful. But if I am, we have to make darn sure we can field dress it in safety. The 2 fellas cleaning an Elk in the Kootenays
3 years ago come to mind. ( 2 hunters killed by a Grizz while cleaning the Elk)
