well after having my camera out for 3 weeks in the same spot as last year finally got some pics :) ,, took a bit longer this year to get some action on camera so hopefully it keeps coming in the weeks and months to come...... had over 570 pics this week of this elk so I only picked a few of the better and most clear pics of him

I have 2 cameras at the moment but only one is out right now still searching for the spot I really like but it will be set up soon ...

all pics from my trail cameras will be posted in this thread so please enjoy the pics as I give weekly updates right up into hunting season

From the looks of the way some of his tines are curling, he should have some good tine length by September.

Judging from front 4 points like that, he's going to be an exceptional 5, or pretty 6!!! Great bull is turning out to be.

Wicked pics, as Yota said the Moultries are nice cams, I'm happy with mine...do any of you elk experts think he could be bugling in the first pic? One guy I know said he heard an elk bugling last week which I thought was weird since it ain't the rut..or do they do locating bugles this time of year when separAted from their bachelor group??

agreed the only issue is if that little sticker on his left G1 grows enough to be a point and someone spots it that makes him 6 and legal

I think you guys may be right on this one,,, but there is a possibility that I have this same elk on my camera last year cant tell for sure at the moment but if it is the same bull from last year then he will be a 6 ,, as soon as his antlers branch out from the ball at the end I will know for sure if he is the same bull or not ,,, im really hoping that he is the same as last year cuz he had some wild looking splits at the and of this antlers very unique and one of a kind ,, so praying to the antler gods that he is the same as last year haha

hey HBC here is a little update from this week that has gone by ,, there was not much on the camera this week but I did get the back end of what seems to be a pretty big black bear ,, and a lonely doe came by as well ,,,, and if all goes well today camera number 2 will be hanging from a tree today and will have 2 cameras to post pics with

hey HBC here is another update for you guys....

well we just got back from the cameras that's right I got camera number 2 in a tree finally haha had just about 1000 pics between both cameras ,,, camera 1 the Moultrie has gone down in activity big time had some nice activity earlier and last summer this spot was rockin with animals everything grizz cougar elk deer bobcats ,,, in the last 2 weeks there have only been a few doe at camera one ,,, how ever with camera 2 the stealth cam,, it has been out for a week and had over 700 pics on it today when we got there,, no deer but a few different bulls one nice 6x6 (hope he sticks around) ,, another one has unique first points that curl down and not up the the sky

well guys here is another update for you guys ,,, we went to the cameras today and had over 1200 photos between both cameras not a bad week ,,,, camera one the moultrie had that elk with the nub on his first left eye guard return and boy has he exploded!! he is now a possible 8x6 with that little nub but for sure a 7x6 ,, it as well had a couple other small 6 points but only 6 points due to small stickers aswell ,,, camera 2 the stealth cam had one of the same 5x5 return

Hey HBC

well guys its once again time for another update ,, after walking to both cameras in the pooring rain this morning it was well worth the wet walks with over 1600 pictures this week ,, camera 1 the Moultrie had no elk return this week but had some bucks move into the area , one decent 4x3 that if he sticks around till hunting season will have my girlfriends name all over him for her first buck,, also had a nice looking 2x2 that looks like he might have good potential in the up coming years ,, how ever camera 2 the stealth cam had lots of elk return ,, it had the same 5x5 return on what seems to be a weekly basis 3 weeks in a row now non stop coming in ,, the big 6x6 that showed up the first week I had this camera in a tree has not shown up since week 1,,, also the 7x6 possible 8x6 ( if the nub on his eye guard is big enough) has moved to camera 2 so hopefully he stays at one of the cameras till hunting season ,,

In such a high pressure area, spot and stalk is your best plan. With the amount of access and pressure, it's hard to get far enough away that a bugle won't bring in another hunter....

well guys its time for another update ,,, I hope you guys are enjoying all the pics :) ,,,, well camera 1 the Moultrie wasn't very interesting but still had some photos about 96 ,, there was that 2x2 muley returned along with a smaller black bear ,,, how ever camera 2 the stealth cam had over 1200 photos on it ,, the same bachelor group along with the big thick 7x6 all returned again on almost a daily basis ,, I hope this is where they hang out and stay till hunting season anyways enough talk haha

amen man any of his smaller buddies that are 6 will absolutely fill the freezer just as well :) ,,, that new 6x5 with the kicker in the middle of his 4th and 5th point I promised my girlfriend if he came in it was hers,, but the other 5 points that have the small nubs on their first point might be iffy cuz not sure if those nubs are big enough to count as a point

rifle season where I live is sept 10 ,, and yes we do have a strategy sort of planned out ,, our strategy as of right now is to walk in with flashlights be in there sitting and waiting about 45 min to 1 hour before you can even start to see ,, that way we are in there ready and waiting for the sun to come up ,, and if we get in there close to 1 hour before you can even see, sitting in the dark for that long gives plenty of time for everything to quiet down after the massive hill we have to walk up to get to that camera

well everyone here is another update from my trail cameras ... camera 1 the Moultrie didn't have very much on it a few doe and that 4x3 muley returned and he has grown a bit since he showed up last still only got night pics of him ,,, camera 2 the stealth cam had more on it ,, my big 7x6 possible 8x6 did not return hopefully he has not vanished from the area,, however the one my girlfriend wants the unique 6x5 with the kicker in between his 4th and 5th point came back only for one say during the week though,, also had some of the usual 5 points again,, but there was a new possible 6x5 (if he grows a little bit more) that showed up ,, and for the guys that have been following my thread that massive 6x6 that showed up once back on july 9th and the disappeared well he returned after a month he showed him self again :) ,, also the ass end of a cougar showed up on the camera which might not be a good sign

Hard to tell until the velvet comes off. Could be quiet difficult to tell in the field if someone did get the sights on him, I'm sure.

I wouldn't think so unless that point grows more, as that tine needs to be at least 1 inch long and the length needs to be longer than the width of the base as per the regs...nice pics there Matt, hope the cows are around so they'll still be there for ya come season..

Beauty all the same, there is a reason why I don't show my elk pics on this forum. I don't want to know that anyone else knows about the elk I'm scouting.
