so I had the day off of work and I decided to try my luck on a bear since time is running out fast, I call up a friend (new hunter) to hit up 3-15 for the day. I've hunted the area before but was never a fan, it's just to thick and steep for my liking but my friend really wanted to try it out since she seen two bear in there the weekend before. So hey what the hell we tried it out, we drove almost to the end of the road (50km) with a bit of sign. So we turned around and head out. We hit about the 35km marker and as we come around the corner we see a really nice colour phase high tailing in to the bush,I was hope it was feed on the road. So I drove past the spot in ran it since the wind was blowing up the road. Once I past the spot it went in at I park the truck and started to walk down the road back to the spot, as i was walking back I heard a branch break on the other side of the road, so I took a knee to wait and this guy popped out, I pull the trigger and he did about 3 back flips on the road and started to cross the road but I know he was hit good, I shot again to try and anchor it there and he did other 2 or so flip and off in to the bush he went. He was about 20yarda in when we found it , when I opened him up both lung were blowing out and the top of his heart was missing when i took it in to the butch he weighed in at 172lb fully field dressed

they sure are tough animals....my dad used to work for the CPR and he told me about times when they would hit a bear with the train at medium speed and they would survive...he told me about one that they hit that rolled down a steep bank into a lake...he was on the caboose and saw it swim to shore, shake off and walk away...

That's a dandy bear! Good goin sarge. What was your new hunter friends reaction to that? It's awesome to show new people what it's all about.
And nice to only have a 20 yd pack out.
