Just checked my handy little phone app for sunrise/sunset times. On Sunday, I'll be able to legally shoot for 18.5 hours! Sunrise at 4:44am and sunset at 9:14pm. Stick an extra hour on either side of those and that makes for one pretty nice day of bear hunting!

I love hunting as much as the next guy and probably more than others but you wouldn't catch me dead hunting bear (or anything else) in June in 30 + degree!

Gotta be doing something, might as well be hunting. The bear is at 37°C just before he dies so 30°C is at least heading the right direction. As long as I can get the temp down quickly there won't be any problems. Not much different than an early season 4 point and I've played the rush game getting those guys off the hill too. It's all worth it.

Okanagan valley bottom highs forecast at 24. Cools off well up top at night. Stays cool above 1400 meters till about 10:00 am and longer on the north sides. Even cooler in the creek draws if you can stand the bugs. Nice lunch and an afternoon siesta and back at it for 5:00 pm. It's a great time of year to be out there. Good luck on the "longest day" SP.

And it's supposed to cool off this weekend to boot!

Get out there and fill your freezers dammit... :-)

I'll be out without a doubt. Love the early mornings this time of year. The bush is so alive, so much to see and learn.

I like the point that the bear is already warmer than the outside temp when it goes down. Just a matter of keeping the cooling trend.

Its weird, lots of people like it warmer when they get older, I seem to like the heat less every year. Thankfully I live in Canada and there is lots of good land to the north of me.

Any day is a good day to take one from the predator side of the game , especially though during calving/fawning season.
Now is the best time if the interests are in saving some ungulates.

It may be near 30° in town and in the valley bottoms but up top where I was hunting last weekend was only 9° at the hottest time in the afternoon and not a cloud in the sky. I'm certain it would have dropped to near freezing over night if it stayed clear and didn't cloud over.

Unfortunately no bears came home with me on my solstice trip but I did find a nice new lawn ornament.
