Hmmm started off slow..then sonar went blank then flashed fish and chips.. wth?
Next 3 hours were constant 5...6..pound rainbows on fly...constant...smallest was 4 #..all on # 5 fly rod line...4 pound tippet...14 trout hooked 10 to the boat.
Anyone know what fish and chips setting on lowrance is?

Give Lowrance a call. Their customer service used to be excellent.

Hmmm googled the fish and chips..on lowrance...its an advanced countour elevation for lake bottom..
Really didnt know it existed..but installed in a back menu I had never seen..
Wasnt a dream...was the type of days dreams are made of...almost nobody else touched a fish..
Secret was a lemon yellow doc spratley..with french silver tinsel, guinea fowl tail, beard, peacock herl head, pheasant tail wing...overbody.unweighted fly on full sink Cortland type 4.
Garry Rosell stayed for couple hours after I bailed..nothing else..
Not overly impressed with Minkotta motor.. $414...it has a graphite shaft that vibrates badly, the clamp assembly is plastic..and binds on installing and removing...it doesnt track well when running from spot to spot..really wanders..., battery indicator is useless..good thing for good oars..
All fish were on the bottom of these 18 foot maximum deep lake...great fighting fish all took me way into my backing..

Take the motor back. Might need one with more thrust. I haven't even bought my fishing license yet. Good job on the fish.

Hmmmm 45 pound thrust...got me across the lake zig zag when I was trying to go directly..
Good thing on a shallow lake...only took 20 seconds to get to that bottom foot level..cold water? Higher o2 levels..

Was it windy? Try putting some weight at the front of the boat.I have a mini kota. Ya they have a crappy bracket. And crappy shaft. I am thinking of getting the extender for the tiller. So I can sit in the middle of my boat.

Hmmm not windy per say...but good point..I did not have my anchors for chronomiding...
Dont think it was a poor individual motor..more like design issues..trying to make the most profit from cheapest materials?
Truly was a stretch for $400 electric motor with gon g show of recent bills...seemed to be top of the line for Minkota transome mounts..
Used 2x
..shaft vibrates
..cheap plastic mount is binding when installing or removing
..reverse sucks!
..mechanism to stop motor from swivelling..is tight..still turns
..doesnt track..needs absolute constant moving..grrrrr
...needs exessive turning for small results
...2 inches of free play before it results in turning movement..
...battery Indicator..useless..unreliable..shifts back and forth..
Not quality for $400 plus Canadian pesoes..maybe thats todays reality ?
Some interfetence on sounder..even thoigh separate wiring, seperate batteries
Rant over lol..
For one of the fish check out facebook...Garry Rosell..

Two anchors are amazing. No brainer for so many of you, but used my new boat with the twin anchor setup and was smiling.

Why do you think I have a big dog sitting in the front of my boat? ;)

Why do you think I have a big dog sitting in the front of my boat? ;)Dog in the front always helped me. Now if it would stay in the boat when ducks swim by.

The dog is just a target to yell at to take out your frustration when you get hooked up on your back cast or come home with no fish.....best to trade it in for some European luck!

I have two 55# thrust electrics. Minnkota and Motorguide, former is a '12 model and the latter is a '10 model. When it comes down to it, the Minnkota outshines the Motorguide in so many ways.
