Hmm the site had 2 grizzly hunters who found 5 grizzlies up a valley in region 5.. talked with Joe after the guys left and gave hime a heads up..they had planned a hunt for his son Neil the next day.
Bear is 2x the size of a regular interior grizzly..estimated in excess of 800 pounds spring weight..teeth shot..really old in excess of 20 years..closer to 30 ?..
This bear would be 1000 pounds in fall pre hibernation..
Notice head width, muscle crease, small ears, massive paws no ankles, legs straight stovepipe shape..skull high 25 plus..
Check out facebook Reid augustine..his Dad Joe is the real dealbear knowledge..
Cheers

Not a great picture on his FB. No pics of the head. I'd say the bear has put on a lot of weight this spring already. Not skinny by any means. Could have been out for 2 months already. I've seen a few interior grizzlies that size... Having a tag when a guy sees one is key though! Great bear. Would love to see more pictures!

That's great! That's the type of bear that should be taken, not the young guy's and sow's. Good story

Hmmm your absolutley entitled to your oppinion..
I had worked long and hard helping numerous hunters and spring bear hunters literally hundreds kf hours.
Helped 2 of our folks from this site try and get their first g bear..knew of several great bears in the location the hunters left after seeing this bear..describing it..
I called Neils Dad cuz I knew he had a tag.he in fact turned down a dmaller shooter to look for this bear..
I talked with Joe and asked if I could post the link...
Because it is so unusual
It shows big old bears still can be shot not just 5 foot
What can happen if you dont shoot good bears..you get to shoot great bears
Reference material for what a true trophy looks like..
99% of even grizxly hunters wont ever see a true 30 year old interior grizzly that will weigh 1000 pounds at times of the year
Just for information maybe 30 maybe more have sent me photos of animals they have harvested and they have specifically said they will not post photos or stories cuz this site is " known for dicks"
I phoned Joe prior to their hunt for a heads up for a big old pig bear at a certain specific location ..and was immendly pleased with the young mans turning down shooter bears for a crack at monsters .
I asked Joe for permisdion for the link so others could admire and plan for simmilar results?
We should celebrate Neils accomplishment..because grizzly hunting is not assured in our future.
I can not speak to the numerous reasons folks font want to post..and I agree its not for me to comment..
However even when I shot stone sheep or even last years pronghorn someone always had to stir the shit..I regretted posting my own photos because someone here always has to go negative or hostile or whatever.
The 500 times I get asked what a great bear looks like..judging..head..ears muscle crease legs etc etc..here is a picture so much easier .
I asked Joe because this was ....is a bear to encourage, celebrate, demonstrate..it is worthy of tge effort...
We are? A hunting site..celebrate this accomplishment..Im sad the first 2 saw the bear and couldnt close the deal but was happy Joe and his son could...and was pleased to share and encourage with all of them.
Joe did not need any help but was happy to share..
Sorry your so twisted out of shape for sharing of this event..lets think of why some wont share..and make it eadier for more.

I think the main reason guys don't post pictures and stories because they just don't have time. I certainly don't this time of year! If I get a rainy day in June I'll put up my spring bear/wolf hunt.

If he's posted the pic on FB and has setting set allowing anyone to view than it's fair game. That along with verbal permission to post on here, I feel this should be the last factual opinion on said matter.
The bear is something else, would be great to see some other pics! Thanks again for the post Srupp.

Hmmm big ass sheep gets hit by pickup in Alberta it gets posted.2 sheep die I a fire near Spenses.posted here,,
Yet this spectacular bear harvested localy and contributes much to what is still available.
Like I said hundreds of hours just with bear hunters this spring..some scarey stuff happened to some, some were successful.some turned down bears .
Leaves a very bad taste in my mouth when a guy tries ..tries hard to help, educate..be of assistance? Only to have folks get mean mouthed and nasty.
Ya dont like the photo or the bear..your choice..
Kinda wonder why I keep tryingbto help..? Not to enthusistic to get slammed for trying to educate and help......
Hmmmmmmmk

Steve Just keep up the GRAT assistance to all the bear Hunters - don't worry about one or two peoples opinion - you will always have that ! :)

Cheers your Buddy RJ

Wow amazing bear. I was lucky enough to lay eyes and a spotting scope on this bear a couple weeks back. The other 2 hunters that steve is talking about are me and my hunting buddy. After an 8 hour hike in to the area, we were lucky enough to glass some of what i think is the best g bear habitat in british columbia. unfortunetly for us, with the incredibly warm spring we've had, the rivers were well above normal and we found ourselves on the wrong side. we were lucky enough to glass some beautiful grizzlys but had no way to reach one across the river. But boy what an experience, even though we came out empty handed i couldnt be more happy with the adventure and experience in its entirety. Congrats to the shooter, this is truly the perfect example of a mammoth interior grizzly. we couldnt get to him, but im happy for you and hope he made your wildest dreams come true. Steve Rupp, what a guy, a heartfelt thanks to all the help over the past couple years, you are a class act and i am proud to call you a friend. I learned during my first grizzly hunt thats its a little different sleeping at night in a 2 man pop up tent hunting grizzlies than it is in a warm trailer hunting anything else. Good luck to the rest of the g bear hunters out there in the seasons closing days.

Hoping to see the rest of the pics of this bear and some stats real soon!

Hmmm classy reply..when we chatted regarding this area I assured you, then promised you an abundance of g bears..
I was dissapointed that the final 5% didnt happen and you left with just amazing memories..i then phoned Joe after you left for home as I knew his son had a tag also..they went in the following am.
There are still 3 shooter boars in the area of your camp..and one big assed boar..much darker in color but silvertip look..
It was my privilege and pleasure to try and help you guys on your quest..we must try again!
Cheers and best wishes..thank you again for your classy response.

Hmmm with a bit better planning I will have a plan b for that area..another fairly nearby group of slides that always holds good bears...
However your area still holds a large dark silvertip..but the guide is in there starting this am...with a little luck that bear will make it through till next april .I apply for this area every spring..glad you guys enjoyed the adventure.
