Had the spotter and video camera out on Sat. and found these two guys. I videod the same bear and goat last year and both have grown.
By the look at the girth on that blackie it looks like he had a good summer and fall.
Going to try to make a play on him with my bow if I get enough help:wink: .

Saturday? I thought you were supposed to be a "soccer mom" on Saturday? That b'ar looks like a good one. I think ya better let one of yer buddies shoot it, you can't possibly afford a blackie and a grizz in the same year!

Looks like he had a good winter, too. Maybe eating grapes, instead of sleeping. Waddles like he is marinaded, too.

Went scouting over a week ago and managed to find this - wonder how many guys already know he exists ? (couldn't resist any longer SSS - you know I had to crop it) Taken through my spotting scope.

Now that guy is worthy of his own thread!8)
Must have been in Banff:razz: !!

F/D-Soccer Mum, yep! Got ridda the Furd and picked up a minivan. Cost of gas these days. Now we can carpool when hunting:roll: .

About how far from that bear were you?

About how far from that bear were you?

Maybe a 1 km or just under. Too far to launch an arrow:roll: . Had the spotter on ~45X and zoomed in the video camera to about 8X. I could have zoomed in close enough to see just his eyeball if I had the spotter on 60X and the camera all the way zoomed in to 16X. Mind you it would have been pretty damn dark:roll: . The sun was just setting when I found the bear.

Too much time taping, not enough time hiking. Did you get ahold of the Recruit over the weekend?

Stone Sheep Steve

I had to hike in 2 1/2 kms just to get to the filming spot:sad: .

No word from Calvin. MIA? He even asked if we could go out and play on Sunday:cry: .................................................. ................... .

Right on Brent! He looks even better that last year for sure. He's got to be first to the salad bar to fill that big belly! I've found they are very habitual... He would be an amazing bear with a bow!! (remember your spare diapers... that Tasmanian, arrow-biting spin gets you pretty pumped... :)) Keep us posted!

Well, hopefully I'll get a chance to see if I have the right stuff. Diapers.....got it!
The area is good for bowhunting with lots of steep benches and drop offs. Wait for him to feed over the edge and I should be able to get in pretty close.
If we can find him and the wind is right, I'll have a chance. I may have to get my caddy to pass me an "iron" if the bow starts to shake:-( . Can't seem to find a bipod for a compound:roll: .

Nearly 10:30 pm - no sign of SSS .... wonder if they're busy packing a bear out in the dark out of that hole ?

Stone Sheep Steve
04-19-2007, 12:02 AM
Thank god, NO!! Just got home now.
We spotted him as soon as we got there but he was in an exceptionally nasty area. We gave it our best anyhow but luckily he slipped out the back door. I could only imagine how hard it would have been to pack him out of there..
We started hiking at 4pm and got back at 11pm. Somehow I forgot how nasty it is in there.:-(
Saw three other bears so it looks like there out and about.

Need sleep..................

If I would have connected tonight we still would have been packing next week:roll: .

He was a no-show today and tonight. I was told to pack iron as I had instructions to put him down at all cost.

The legend lives on................................................ ...................
