270 strikes again. neck shot bang flop. Almost separated the head from the neck.
I decided to walk into and area the showed lots of sign. The grass had been eaten off down quite low. So as I crested a hill there he was eating in the same grassy area. He would stand up feed, lay down eat what was in reach, stand up and move again. I observed this while scouting for cubs. Probably get 100 lbs of meat off of this 4 or 5 year old boar. It will be all roasts. Because there is nothing like a slow cooked boneless bear roast on a woodstove. Baked potatoes right beside the pot wrapped in tin foil. Slow roasting starts 7- 8 am and eating time at 5pm. I left all the guts and hide for the young momma bear with 2 cubs. Incredible amount of fat on this bear. 2 to 3 inches near the tail end. I couldn't lift this bear into my small trailer. I had to incorporate ropes and mechanical advantage to get it up and in. It will be cut and wrapped tomorrow. Got to go wash my hands for a 4th time. Gojo is one of the few things that removes the bear grease.

Still 2 and 3 degrees C here in the mornings. Slow cooker for the summer. On another note cut and wrapped in 6 hours. Label and then into the freezer.
Haven't weighed the deboned meat yet but I think 26 roasts between 3 and 7 lbs. I cut all the excess fat off the roasts. Add a liter of beef broth, garlic, onion, slow cook and yum. Not even going after a mulie this fall. Bear instead.
It was dropped with a 130gr Nosler ballistic tip out of a Browning Bar Safari in 270 cal. Bang flop. Neck shot. No tracking. LIG
