7-39 anyone been there?

I was given the substitute grizz draw for 7-39 and I've never been there any access info would be great. any info at all would be great.

Buddy worked in 7-37 for a year, lots of grizz. Should be good on that side of lake too! Quite maze of roads up that side of Williston for access?

Highly recommend a boat ;). As most will give you still snow in that country ... south facing slopes lower valleys for another couple weeks. Glass glass glass. Some good g bears in there good luck

A boat isnt going to help I dont think as the lake is a ways away from 7-39. I think you are thinking of 7-38. It looks like a a pretty long drive from the mackenzie area. Im just trying to figure out how much fuel to pack along as I cant really tell how far a drive from the highway.

Ive been to the Sustut area south of there but never into 7-39

I had been there twice,very limited road you can drive in and need pack more than 100 litter gasline.not much slope you can glassing too.
but if you like hiking into the mountain ,have good chance to get one.
lots of snow till the third week of the May.

I have received info from someone working up there at the closed mine (Kemess)that they plan on starting to open the road this week.
Hopefully (according to him) should be open around May 21. This is dependent on the weather
Avalanche techs told him that Johansson Pass area still has 1.5 meters of snow on road and conditions are not optimal for bombing the avalanche chutes yet.

They open the road as far as the mine. Any travel beyond that point will be difficult. Access to Thutade and Black Lakes probably not possible without snowmobiles.

was just up in 7-37...all the main roads are easy travelling....my first time up there and not much glassing to be done, only found a few vantage points that made for good glassing...could not go as far as planned, ran into 1-2' of snow before I turned around

blackbears were active south towards Mackenzie, 1 blackie that looked like it just woke up in 7-37

I packed 100L but ended up filling up at the station, gas price is 1.20 in tsay kay dene, they close early, but if you see a blue truck buddy said feel free to knock

from Mackenzie it took me just under 7 hours to reach the mouth of ospika river, that was going slow my first time up, my drive out was faster

also saw a few cow/calf moose, 2 caribou in 7-38, and about a dozen bobcats that seemed to be focused on picking off grouse on the roads which was pretty sweet to see!

if you've never been up there, the petro Canada station at the turn off to Mackenzie has awesome jerky, always stop to buy a few packs on my way to work/play

7-39 is a damn long ways off pavement, that road is super hard on tires as well. Nice country.

Have a griz draw for 7-38 so I decided to scout it out. I went early April and the roads were good but the rec sites were still snowed in. There was still 8" of snow in the bush. I left from Mackenzie and took the causeway, it's only 168km to Manson area but took 3 hrs to drive and only took quarter tank of gas, I brought a few jerry cans of fuel also but didn't need it, you can get fuel and propane at Manson store. I was told there are record sized grizzlies on the east side Of Williston lake where your zone is. When I go again this month I'm taking the easy way, head through Mackenzie up the parsnip west till you hit Findlay forks about 95 km from Mackenzie. Hop in your boat and scoot across the arm until your in your zone. Less people barely any roads and the Rez folk won't bother or know your there. Any questions bro send me a pm

I'm heading up 7-38 next week for a bit hopefully not to early as this is my only time/chance as I have a hospital stay at the end of the month for a few weeks. Webcam of the Manson Creek store shows the snow has melted nicely on the sun side so hopefully there is some green showing and the G-bears be about :)

I just got back from that area 2 days ago. Too much snow on the road to get past 7-38 into 7-39. Lots of snow in the pass still....
