Went hiking Sunday, had a good day, saw about 20 mule deer, 3 whitetail and found 2 sheds. Unfortunately came across two more poached moose. That makes 6 in three years and I'm not even looking for them. Pics all with I-Phone so not that great.

Checked myself well for ticks throughout the day and just before driving home. Got out of the truck at home and felt something on my neck. Little bugger road home with me and was nearing my scalp before I found him. Pretty sure he never bit me.

How do you know they were poached?

Well unless someone is storing moose ankles and hides in their freezer since November and then driving them 5 k into the bush to stack them neatly on the roadside I figured they were shot recently. The coyotes or ravens hadn't even touched them yet. I could be wrong about this, however it is a serious pattern in my area and I'm really not giving anyone the benefit of the doubt when I find fresh moose legs on the road in April. I'm certainly open to more legitimate explanations.:?:

Make sure you report it to the local co or the rapp line. Same if you find garbage dumps in the woods, report it!

It was March before I finally cleared out a 4-point Mulie carcass from my shed , with antlers. Wonder how that looks at the bone dump

Maybe don't be so quick with the assumptions , leave the sensationalism to the media.

Who knows, maybe he's right. Don't be so quick to say he's wrong.

You could be right about that however the size of the first one tells me calf and there is no calf season in these hills. Yah, maybe someone drove the calf remnants across the province to throw them in the bush? Last January I found a fresh kill moose site about 10 k from this most current pile, gave a description of MO to CO and he knew exactly what it was all about.

Not trying to sensationalize it, it just gets my goat when we are struggling to find the opportunity to hunt these moose.

Looks like a good day out. That first hide looks like an elk to me.... If a guy tossed it late in the fall, it could have been buried and frozen in the snow all winter. It doesn't look all that fresh in the pic. No bear sign on your day out?

I also see zero difference between poaching and any so-called "hunting" that differs from the standards set for ALL BC residents in the current regs. I do NOT accept the special status now allowed by governments for some and despise such vile racism.

Special "rights" MUST equal "traditional" tools for angling, hunting and any other activity, IMO.

All of this could be changed if people would FIGHT BACK in non-violent, legal ways, just as with the foul policies of the BC government concerning GOs and foreign-Yankee trophy collectors.

We hunters are much too passive and willing to accept any bullshit that governments tell us we must; the HoC can and must change the whole issue of "rights" and we should lobby for this now.

The picture of the hide and legs, there off a moose? To a untrained eye such as mine, it looks a tad like a deer hide and legs???

You are right Heuvos, the hide looks elk like with the tan rump. I did not examine it closely, in fact I didn't even touch it. There hasn't been any snow at that elevation, (600 meters, southern exposure) for about 2 months. I should not have jumped to the conclusions I did however I have found enough confirmed poached animals to be suspicious in anything I find. Hooves look like a calf moose and there are no elk that I know of in this area.

No bear sign period that day and I was in some likely areas. Grass and annuals were starting to push a bit and trees almost past budding.

Looking at the pic again, It looks like the top leg is a moose leg, mixed in with that elk. Sorry to hear about problems in your area. Never hurts to report anything suspicious. I enjoyed the pics, thanks for sharing.
