Was out for a hike with a buddy in reg 2 a little while ago and found this moose skull in an area littered with moose sign. Did a quick measurement on it and came up with just over 155 and just over 150 after deductions. This is with some broken points and chewed up paddles. Pretty big for a southern moose?

A bit too wide to be able to walk in the dense bush in the south.Seeing some big ones in Kamloops country but it is more open. But you never know today with all the clearings.Fair size rack for sure.Where about in region 2??

Shiras Moose barely make it into the south east corner of BC...

And it should have Shiras stamp on the inside right! :-)

This link has an article on moose in BC with a distribution map. As Ohwildwon indicated it shows the Shiras range to be only in the very south east corner. Alaskan Moose in the north west and the remaining 90% of the province "Northwestern Moose" https://www.google.ca/#q=bc+moose

I may very well be wrong on this, But, I've hunted moose my entire life, and believe me, thick dense brush or timber or even big bloody trees so close it's hard for me to get through doesn't slow down a moose! And I've seen moose, big moose simply put there heads back, get a wild look on there face and charge right through it! How in hell do they do it??? I don't have a clue? Another "Dean" fact about moose is this, after taking more bullets than your rifle will hold, the moose will run down hill into the thickest, meanest, orneriest, thorniest, shitiest place they can find, then jam there horns deep into the fallen tree's, and die with a smile on there ugly face, knowing your going to dam near die getting him out of there!

I think it's bs how they don't consider there to be shiras moose in Canada. South of the border is the line in the Boone and crocker book. My buddy shot a monster of a "shiras" in the okanagan with a draw a couple years ago 53" after dried out and scored 182. But didn't even make book because there isn't any shiras in Canada according to Boone and Crockett bs

He could put it in SCI if he's into supporting fiction. According to the group anything below HWY 1 is Shiras and anything north is a 'Canada' moose.
