Yea same here I've been hunting almost everyday since the 1 st trying different locations....the snow out this way and the cold winds have made it hard to see anything in the open...saw sign though so anyday now things will start coming together

Lots of grass and fresh growth where I was, but no bear, grass uneaten.

Lots of green grass up to the treeline around Kamloops, a little above treeline though and it starts to dwindle pretty quick, especially in the trees, a little starting to sprout along the edge of the roads and open areas. Not a single pile of bear crap to be found yet though.

Spotted two bears so far, one was on private land mowing the grass. The other I spotted on the other side of a valley, by the time I made it over shooting light was up.

Big poo pile spotted on the way out on Saturday that wasn't there on the way in. A logger friend who owns a wood lot where I was hunting says he has seen one so far this year and he is shooter and hanging in the same place

Shot my mouth off at a few bad drivers today, but other than that nothing,
Although we did come across a large pile of bear poop must have been the winter plug, 8 days ago around Kelowna.

Put a bunch of rounds through the shotgun VS some sneaky bright orange clays....as well as some rounds through the .22
I am hoping to get out for my first black bear this spring season in the Okanagan area but it sounds like I might be a little early just yet by the sounds of things.
Can anyone suggest to a new-to-black bear hunter areas to look in the lower mainland region? I still feel awkward going out down here because even the areas that you'd think you're alone and are huntable areas....there's people! Or a prison! Or a house! haha

Yes I Did!

I was picking off Nazi SS, infiltrating the backyard of the house I grew up in, until my gun jammed....

Then I woke up!

What the hell was that all about?.....

I know of a pretty big grizzly that has been killed already. Not by a hunter but more of a defense situation.. big bear tho and I saw a pile of crap in the same area a couple weeks before. Also had something walking through the bushes a ridge over and my dog picked it up quickly and it sounded alot like a bear but never caught a glimpse of it.

Been hammering crows, ravens and gophers hard over the last few weeks.

Lots of action this time of year, plowing through tons of ammo!

Another wolf went down in the calving pens too, a week and a half ago. Must get hungry this time of year.

Only 2 last coyotes too, have them thinned down pretty good.

Saw my first bears of the year Monday, a Brown Sow with a brown and black cub.

There was a bear in my backyard yesterday. Lots of coyotes. One running around at the farm. Lots of chewed up grass. Was told by the loader operator it is a big one.

I'll be right over, gotta protect the loader guy RIGHT!!
Just remember this year we all get an extra 2 weeks down here in 3 and 8. Don't be in a rush, you'll be tagged out and have nothing to do if your too keen LOL

I have lots of firewood to cut. You have a place to stay if you come over. All you need is rifles, sleeping bag, food and booze. They had to clean the road to the look out. I had a fun time turning around, lots of trees in the way.house will be built two years from now. Might be two built.I was given an offer that I can not refuse. PS. The guy on the loader is a very good shot.

Whats the deal with shooting crows and ravens? Can you eat them? I watched a documentary on crows and they instantly became my favorite animal.

I work up in Whistler and have not seen any sign of bears yet. There is grass growing on the hill already though.

We used to shoot Magpies on the farm, but never Crows or Ravens. I was wondering myself.

Crows are schedule C, smash them wherever, whenever, however.

Ravens are protected in many parts of BC, read the regs before shooting a black flying bird

A family friend had a pet crow that was ridiculously smart. Rescued it as a chick and had it for 15 years or something. Taught it to talk too... Knew every cus word in the book lol. I don't think I could shoot one.

When I'm trying to sleep in on weekends and the crows are going crazy I really wanna get out on the patio with a 12 gauge lol my dad found an injured albino crow when I was a kid, we kept it around for a while and ended up giving it to the petting zoo in queens park in New West.

"Why shoot crows and ravens?" you guys ask.

Why not? I shoot them in the farmyard to keep them off the cattle, at this time of year, away from the new calves. If I want to eat something I killed, I shoot a cow. They also get into the grain, eat it up, make a mess of it, and spread diseases everywhere with their feet from whatever pile of crap/rotten carcass they previously landed in.

I also use them for hunting/shooting practice. They are tough to hunt as they are smart and learn quick (crows that is, Ravens are very easy and predictable to hunt)

Gate, good shooting! The most I've ever got in one unload is 3. Sometimes if they do the funeral thing, I get a few more.

Wait till you see them pecking at the eyes of a newborn calf or lamb. You'll shoot.
