I'm wondering where to apply for moose this year.

My buds and me have been to 6-08 before but it seems like just when we have figured out a spot that holds moose or is a transitory zone between lakes and clearcuts, the remaining forest gets cut and it has completely changed the next time we go.

I'm interested in hearing what 6-04 and 6-09 might have been like the past few years.

I live in 6-04 and guide in part of 6-09, I'd push in 6-09 as it's a bigger area with more draws and for the most part, better odds. 6-04 has moose around, but like you mentioned about 6-08, you have to find them. I'm not to sure about 6-09 for gos, but 6-04 gets pounded hard from oct 20-26, so the later draw is kinda iffy, the rut draw in 6-04 went from about 14:1 last year to 25.4:1 this year, tough odds, and the early draw, that's when you really have to know where to look because of so much cover for them. All in all, 6-09 has better odds imo, both on a draw and on seeing moose. Guiding, the later season has always produced very well, with a lot of the big bulls coming out of the hi country.

Few august ago chasing goats in 6-09 I seen a few big bulls in the dark cooler timber. Then seen them all over the place low in the valley in January

Moose in all those MU's depends on the weather and where you hunt in the unit. If you are road hunting I would say 6 09 if you are out of the truck in the bush any of those units can be good.

There's lots of bull moose in all three M.U.'s, but you need to get off the main roads and walk a bit.

I would say 6-8 holds more moose, lots of big lakes and swamps. But lots of hunters on the roads.

6-8 and 6-9 are really similar for populations and logging activity so it really depends on whether you can find the spots that suit your style of hunting and get away from the crowds.
