Never seem to have much luck in early April for Black Bear, but it has been unusually dry this winter and warm for march and with hunting season starting next Wednesday, think they're is a good chance to see em early this year. Lemme know what ya think :)

Last week the Prince George radio station reported that there had been black bears seen in town.

Didn't see much two weeks ago when I was out. Hiked all over the place in my Region 2 spots to hang cams. No bear sign, the ticks were out. Things were getting green though so I wouldn't be surpised to find one early this season. I'll be trying for an Easter bear.

I seen one last weekend. It wasn't a big one. It was cruising a cut block. In the Fraser valley. There was also a buck stuck at Cascade Falls a couple of weeks ago with full head gear.

Ice off is 2-3 weeks early on Tunkwa Lake in 318. No reason that the bears won't be out earlier than usual either...

Sorry for changing the subject a bit but figured this was a good place to ask. My question is, is there any difference in the taste or quality of meat between a spring and fall bear

Spring bears are lean, fall bears are fat. As lean meat is nasty I usually add pork fat to spring bear. I find bear meat to be a neutral tasting meat either way. A fall bear fattened on berries or oats or barley is well marbled and very good to eat.

If you can see the popular tree's with buds on them, the bears are darn near ready to come out and eat. The Creator made them bears smart, they normally don't come out of there dens unless they's got stuff to eat, should be green grass where your going to hunt bears too. Seen some bear poop at the bottom of the Paul Lake road early this past week, so it's time to go bear hunt'in! That info's from the "Code of the West" handbook, I ain't wrote it yet, but I'd like to before I pass away, but if I do pass before I write it, I'll make it "My Memoir's"!!! Think I might go for a cruise on the quad in the morn'in, got a new thermos today, dieing to try it out! Stay safe out there!

From what I seen my last trip up the mountain I would say you stand a chance and odds are there is a few out and about. Usually I say after the first week of May is good time for region 2 this spring I am thinking mid April or last week of April.

Things are greener than normal but I am not going opening days mother nature is telling me keep sleeping for 2 weeks lol

Didn't see one first hand while out yesterday, but did see tracks in a couple pockets of snow in a valley bottom, plus several rocks overturned...

Sure, but you can't hunt them there. A guy at my work said he saw a bear this morning in Coquitlam. The bears know when they are safe ;)

Every year early bears are spotted and hunters get all excited but seem to forget some bears wake up throughout the winter and some never sleep.

Yes, every year tagging a bear opening day is possible. I do agree this will be an early spring for bear.

I have spent a good number of years running out early and done the oh 1 more week and they will be everywhere routine. After doing this I have learned to save my gas and spend my time getting things done or fishing till the time is right. I have my indictors I use to tell me when I should start my bear hunting now.

I can tell you guys this bear hunter is not headed out till April 15 for my early spots and in my opinion things won't really start kicking late April early May.

Best of luck boys don't get frustrated or give up if you're not finding them right away

It's not about getting a bear for me. It's just a good excuse to get out and about checking things out

Always a great reason

Just know there are many who run out early dreaming of bears only
