View Full Version : Any good places for hunting turkey in region 8?

just wondering if turkey hunting is worth trying in region 8. Ive see some fair some sized groups in the summer.

I'd say that if you're seeing some fair-sized groups, then yes, they are worth trying for.
the guy I knew that hunted them did so in the more southern part of 8 I believe.
I always heard that they were spreading through the region, but never once saw any out anywhere.

Last August 2 dozen ran across the Conkel Lake road on me (about 13 km. ) but they are elsewhere as well.

This is a region 8 bird around Rock creek.Can't say it was easy finding them .

I harvested one in region 8 last year cost me a lot of gas... lol.

Out in Carmi there was some out the old KAR trail by the bridge a few years back.

They are where you find them. Seems like a silly thing to say, but they are in different areas in winter, spring, summer, and fall.
When I first started to hunt them I thought they would always be in the same area year round. It took a while to learn that they do migrate and it seems to happen 10-14 days prior to opening morning...at least in the area I hunt them. Hunting pressure plays a huge factor.
