Pretty rugged country, good luck on finding trails. if you find a trail do your best to stay on it. (They seem to peter out, then appear again)
I have found the trail once, out of three trips in there, to the area we wanted to go to. (Been there 5 times total)
My ashes are going to the top of the mountain across the lake from the campsite. (Atleast my kids better get me there:-)
Cartmel was my 1st trip north, (my oldest sons 1st also)back then, the flight was 350each way taxes in, and diesel was 48 cents a liter.
Keep your eyes open for the hunter thats lost in there.
They think he got to the cartmel area, if u see something that looks like garbage, take a minute to have a look see. tattered tent, boot, piece of a pack or sleeping bag, ect.
Some closure for his wife would be bitter sweet.
Enjoy your trip, it is Gods Country as stated.
Reviving last years thread, how'd your hunt go Stu? Anyone else care to share pictures of the area around Cartmel please do...looks steep and rugged!
