Ive seen Grimm reapers kill many deer quickly ;-) I will be changing to them this season! Stay away from G5 T3's they were a complete failure !

What about g5 mondecs

I've been hunting with the G5 Montec broadheads for 9 seasons... I switched to their Montec Carbons now because they are sharper but still incredibly tough, fly really well under fifty yards, and reasonably priced.

I am interested to try the Grim Reapers too... not sure about them on heavy game though.

I'm going to be trying Magnus Stingers this season, have heard good things about them. Had slick tricks before but found them too weak.

QAD Exodus are my go to broadheads. Over the past few years I've killed game with the Montec CS, Magnus Stinger Buzzcut, Magnus Snuffer SS, Slick Trick Standard, Rage Hypodermic, Grim Reaper Whitetail Special, Grim Reaper Fatal Steel, and the QAD Exodus. Solid steel construction, razor sharp heavy blades, excellent flight and durability, combined with enormous wound channels/blood trails make the Exodus very hard to a beat. The new Magnus Black Hornet Serazor looks deadly also, and I plan to try them this spring on bears.

By all means! I've found them to exhibit excellent flight and they're as lethal as any when sharpened up and put in the vitals. I've found the CS (Carbon Steel) model to be more robust and take a better edge than the SS version.

G5 Montec's is what I've used and they've flown true and been lethal.

Tried them last season and found them to be total crap! They open at the lightest touch, the fricken rattle in the quiver, and worst they BREAK at the ferrule. I had to send a bunch of my own and customer purchases back!

I am not a fan of mechanicals. Watched another guy from this forum in action with them on a hunt, and had a camera on him for his first bear. Clear, open 30yd shot. One blade opened midflight, and in the video, you can see the arrow "jink" halfway to the bear as the open blade catches the air. Rewatched it several times just to make sure. He had a good line initially on the lungs, but instead the arrow veered down and left into the guts. Tracked that bear with him for hours on spotty blood and finally lost him. You are never going to get that happen on a fixed.

Even so with a fixed be picky and choose one with a low angled head. I've done this and so should you. Set your target up at 45degrees angled away. Shoot a bunch of QAD exodus into it and G5 Montecs. On the low angle, the QAD catches the target with the outside tip of the blades quite often before the point, which "kicks" the tail out as those blades drag into the foam. Your previous power was directed in a straight line, but now it is at an angle, and you penetration goes way down. You don't get this on the G5. Yeah, yeah I know we shouldn't be shooting low percentage shots on angles, but all you need is an animal to whip its head around and torque the shoulder at the sound of the release, and your previous broadside becomes an angled shot. I like to eliminate all the variables I can on my equipment, so that's my $.02

Yes even when set correctly with new clips they are very prone to deploying in the quiver. The biggest problem is the breaking though!

Jup we became pros at setting the clips! Holy I can set them with my eyes closewd now! I will never get the time back I spent mastering them. The problem was the shafts would break off in the insert, so not only was the T3 useless but also the arrow. I was very disappointed in them. I think Bill has pictures somewhere.

29" Easton Powerflight 340's , Magnus Stinger or Buzzcut in 100 gr , one mule deer buck 35yrd, one whitetail doe 60 yds and a cow elk 40yds. All complete pass through, one shot...I love them out of my #70 PSE Dream Season DNA @ 302fps. They group very well too.

Thunderheads do work shot them for a number of years. Found the slicktrick mags do more damage, fly better, and are more durable.

Would not think twice about shooting an animal with thunderheads just think there are better options

I'm not a huge fan of the montecs. That being said I haven't tried anything else, and everything has died, eventually. Had a lot of long blood tracks with them. They don't fly exactly like your field points as they claim, so make sure to sight them in.
