After a huge melt and a skiff last night, the decision was made to "go for a rip"

So, we loaded up and rolled out.

-15 with the sun shining......excellent!

Strapped the Benelli on the toboggan, and turned on the Aimpoint.

Here's what I've found is THE best way to mount a rifle on a sled.
A bungee hook is on the front of the soft case, hooked into a hole drilled into the tunnel.
The side is soft bungee'd to keep it from bouncing and easy to pull out the rifle.
Another bungee is pulling the inside handle on the case toward the rear to keep the hook on the front hooked.
Back-pack with food, beverages and extra ammo is on the back.

Put on 90 miles without seeing 1 moose or deer track. Cut an old cougar track, a pair of fresh coyote tracks, and single coyote in a different valley. Just about to cross the last meadow for the truck but decided to see what was to the west.....

Hit a fresh wolf track right away...!...then another....

They headed west and we followed fast, taking turns taking the track and guessing what way they would go.
They tricked us a few times and made us push some bush, which was tough going in the deep snow (hard crust they can run on, and we sink over waste deep in places)

Finally the hard work paid off and I had a runner in the Aimpoint that was pretty far off. Good thing I'm not shy with ammo, cause the next treeline was coming fast.

Here the "as they lay" pic

Here's another one before we started dragging it.

Here's how tough a hockey shoelace is, hahahttp://i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y414/Drillbit/Image%203_zpsncgqnkq4.jpg (http://s1273.photobucket.com/user/Drillbit/media/Image%203_zpsncgqnkq4.jpg.html)

Here's another at "a medium pace"!

Where do I apply for some bounty $ now? I've never been able to figure it out in the past.

Ya you bet, it was a beauty of a day.

The Benelli is an MR1, with the comfortech stock. A comp C3 aimpoint, and beowulf magazines. I usually have a Leupold MarkAR scope on it, but had the red-dot still on it from 3-gun shooting and actually like it better for shooting things on the run. Plus the turret on the Leupold sometimes turns pulling it in and out of the case and has cost me some coyotes in the past.
