My buddy drives for transit in the LML and near ran one over on the SFU hill. But it wasn't likely sleeping down here in the tropics anyhow!

Saw one last night in Prince George. Heading out to stalk some unsuspecting garbage cans, I suppose.

Its gonna be an early season round here. Likely will be a little more difficult to locate large concentrations of bears with so much available food source already sprouting.

I haven't seen or heard of any bears out and about here in my region. Doesn't mean they aren't, I just haven't seen any sign of it yet. Would be pretty slim pickings if any are out with nothing green out in the bush.

They taste good if you get them away from towns and rivers systems. Only ever had 1 bear we couldn't eat from 15 years of hunting and 4 guys in the group.

Thats what im thinking. The last few years my bear hunts usually last a few hours, last year it took 20 min .lol . And half that was unloading the quad. Might have to work for it this year

Definitely an excuse to sneak out easter weekend though. Hoping snow will be high up near the duffey so i can scout for fall at the same time.

Been an extremely mild winter here on the island, the best I can remember for working outside. Even had my shirt off for a few hours last week! Hoping that means the bears will be out for opening, Riley's trigger finger is getting itchy. One month to go...

Hahaha so true.. But even then I haven't seen a garbage bear since dec. I already got my spot picked out and the bear I want, hopefully its there again this year and has no cubs. The spot is well well away from town.

If they have cubs they've been having sex for sure... Lol.
It is legal to shoot sows but not bears under 2 years old, or bears in the company of bears under 2 years old. ie cubs and sows with cubs. In terms of conservation it is preferred to shoot boars, but it can be difficult to tell the difference especially with younger bears. We have so many damn bears on this Island (almost got eaten by 3 last fall) I am not concerned about shooting sows here.

your question is unclear brother, are you asking if you need proof you had sex with a bear? is the bear having sex with other bears? hahaha, no proof of sex needed man, just don't shoot right away, make sure no cubs are present by watching for a few minutes before shooting. Sometimes the cubs are around but you wont see them for a bit.

Exactly...keep a good eye out for cubs in any trees around the bear as well...

I have not seen any bears out yet, nor any sign...however, I have heard that it takes bears awhile to drop sign due to their 'fecal plug' when awaking from hibernation, anyone know if this is true???

If this weather keeps up it most likely will be an early start to the year. We'll see how it goes. Won't really be hunting for bears until after the spring turkey season is done(either I get one or the season ends). By mid-May access into some of the south facing alpine should be definitely possible for a high country backpack trip. I'm looking forward to hopefully shooting my first bear, just want to see what the meat is like, I'm not looking for a rug or a mount. If the family doesn't like the meat it'll be the last bear I shoot.

Thanks! Will make packing out easier.

Definitely take my time for cubs. Would've had one last year but it bolted before i was confident no cubs :(

Agreed! I had a nice one lined up last year but the second I started to squeeze the trigger it must have winded me, I will see if he's there this year

Had one at 7 yards and it had no idea we were there... that is until I squeezed the trigger and the gun went CLICK. First and only misfire with the 30-06. Factory winchester cartridge... comparing side by side, dent looked the same as any spent round. It should have went off. I'm still choked.
