I'm looking for an area that would make a good day trip for a mulie shed hunt with my wife. We are coming from the LML.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

find a south slope off the highway with no snow and start hiking.

Pretty much, just gotta burn some boot leather and cover ground.

Is that unusual for them to be hanging onto their antlers towards the end of February?

in the peace region I saw whitetails shedding in December, have seen a mix of mulies that shed and some still sporting antler since then....I think it's a crapshoot, just go to where you see deer sign and see what you find
look for old growth douglas fir timber, bigger the timber and steeper the slope, the better
