Hey me and my hunting group are looking at doing a hunt up north in region 7b.We went up to PG a few years ago and got skunked. We are looking at hunting near pink mountain or fort nelson during September. I've been looking on here for info for that area and I've looked on Google earth. We will also take an elk, caribou, whitetail, or mulie if we get the chance but we will mainly be focused on moose. I was just wondering if those are some good areas and if we should call during September? oh and what are the grouse numbers like up there? All tips will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Lots of grouse silly amounts ... moose pops are good depending on where you hunt lots of country lots Of animals limited access ... do you have a jet boat ? Calling works great in late September the majority of moose we shoot we call in Had alot of success up there but I hear different from others so who knows.... lots of info with Fsr roads on here do some research and You will get into game wherever you go

No we don't have a jet boat but we all have quads. I was looking on Google earth near pink mountain on the west side of the highway and there seems to be quite a few roads in that area.

It's all good in 7B if you put the time in on the ground. I don't know of a bad area anywhere in 7B. I work all over many parts of it extensively. But I avoid other hunters like they have the plague.

The only sure thing is buying beef at the butchers on the way home. The wife might never find out!

When I hunted it the prophet had elk and moose on it. I did a float trip down for two days in August one year. Passed on a couple small Bulls.

It's a zoo of hunters up there and oil field traffic, bring a radio to call klicks!!!! Had a lot of un happy people because we didn't have a radio, especially when it rains the roads go to shit, mud like you've never seen before and narrow roads, we got skunked last two years up pink mnt area so this year headed up past pink mnt to try an avoid all the hunters. We scouted nice areas on google earth then when we got to those locations we found tons of logging going and and oil patch work, so have a back up plan, jet boats are ideal to get far as possible. I heard it was a zoo of hunters up there thought it was guys trying to get me to avoid the area but they weren't BSing!!! Busy busy seen tons of black bears, bring a tag!!

lots and lots of hunters. my last couple trips back from the yukon, everywhere you looked was hunters. good news was that there were a few big moose i saw in the back of trucks. i always see caribou, every single trip, but never anything big. theres plenty more roads everywhere compared to the old days, but that means plenty of traffic also.

That time of year go for elk!! They should be plenty horned up to come to calls! It is busy, but with some foot power, you don't have to go too far to find crotters! Moosin

Busy, Busy, Busy, oil and gas, logging and general backcountry explorers are all in that country. Progress Energy has roads and pipelines going everywhere up there, all gearing up for the Petronis (who owns Progress) LNG program. Lots of other companies in that area working as well, so watch the roads and if you do ride on an ATV, be extra careful as they are hauling 24hrs a day up there.

Hunters are where you find them, but it will get busier if the BS Allocation goes through as there will be less LEH, so that will mean more pressure on the GOS areas. I would say 90% of the hunters do not get off or out of their vehicle, so if you do get off your quad and go for a walk and are not afraid to pack an animal out, your success will go up.

Cheers
