My 10 yr old son wants to try bow fishing this summer at Vaseaux.
Hes never shot a compound just the crap tire lil nippers.
What kind of draw weight should i be looking for him?
I was thinking 20-30lbs but i dont know if he will be able to pull it and puncture a carp.

Thanks

There is no legal minimum for it but I'd say the heaviest he can handle comfortably.

My son will be 9 this summer and easily pulls 23#. I'll be building him a new recurve this year, he's outgrown his longbow. He had no problems last summer with 23# drawn to 22". Managed to punch through a dozen or so.
